It’s enough documentaries out to learn if you want. Then he mentioned Busta Rhymes? That fool is high as fk just rambling.

I’m surprised Busta didn’t show up in that clip and start barking on that fool.

For those confused:

1. He is down with Tariq, he runs the comedy stuff at the museum. I'm 70% sure he's involved in the Hip-Hop documentary Tariq is doing.

2. He means why aren't FBA people/people that were there in the culture speaking out against Joe's 50/50 claim, and Busta's "Hip-Hop is Jamaican" claim. Nobody is countering any of these false claims, and it looks like it will take a 3rd party (Tariq) to come in and set the record straight on a wide scale. The only person that matters I've heard keep it real was Grandmaster Caz on Vlad, and even he chilled on the subject a tiny bit, surely because it could fukk up his bag since he isn't getting the support someone of his stature deserves.

Legitimate question, just not articulated as well as possible.

Thanks breh. That lets me know not to take this dude's opinion seriously.

Because folks know the truth already, nobody has ever heard Kool Herc say hip-hop started in or comes from Jamaica, people falling for the dumb shyt once more. If you needed these questions answered then you (not you personally) may not be a part of Hip-Hop culture to begin with. Mind you, this seems to be a modern internet problem, all the information at your fingertips and still folks say stupid shyt and put words in people's mouths.

Hip-Hop started in the Bronx end of fukking story.

He HIMSELF is starting to lean into the lies. He recently said "it's time for Jamaica to reclaim Hip-Hop". Also, these fake stories that portray all the elements magically starting at that party are everywhere and people (including him) are running with it. It's easily debunked, but who with a voice is saying anything?

Here's what I want to know. Which old heads in particular would you like to speak up on this? :sas2:

This is definitely a dude who owns a bunch of kufi's.

Nobody cares about those talking points in real life, except for "conscious" weirdos like him and college aged people who don't actually listen to the music, just read the lyrics and want to break down things.

Is there a point here?
Yes there is. Assuming you're talking about old heads being the pioneers such as Herc, Bambatta, Flash etc...I don't know if you really ready for what they might say.

Like suppose, the pioneers say, yeah...we was influenced by the shyt them jamaicans and ricans was doin and we all birthed the shyt together...then what?

Topic is dead?

Won't happen. Herc HIMSELF, OUT OF HIS OWN MOUTH, admitted none of it came from toasting or JA culture. He came here at 12, he wasn't THAT Jamaican to begin with, and admitted he was an outcast and switched up to what FBAs were doing. The music, dress, all of it. In a book from the 80s. He also didn't create any elements. He also admitted DJ Flowers and Disco King Mario (the REAL father of Hip-Hop) predated him. His whole story is embellished at best.
