You're missing the point. Baby Yoda kept people interested, for eight weeks. It doesn't matter what The Witcher does or doesn't have, it's only going to be a factor for a weekend, a week tops.

Stranger Things is one of the cutest shows out there and struggles to stay relevant for more than a week or two.

The same-day season was a revelation for Netflix near the start of this decade but as it came to a close, the power of weekly format flexed and has remained king. At this point Netflix is selling itself short with its release format. Not only did it dominate the landscape for a long time, it got at least one, and will get a lot of 2nd renewals out of people who didn't catch the finale before their subscription expired. Ditto GoT early this year for HBO.

Naw

But the mando not only had the baby yoda but it was also star wars so all that contributed to its success. Had this been some new property I doubt it would have caught on and exploded like it did especially its first season. Got had to build its audience and that was the same with power.

Witcher released all 8 episodes at once so that helped
The all at once dump really doesn't help most properties become cultural touchstones.
Things that become weekly appointment TV do much better in that area than stuff working under the Netflix model.

From the article:
A few critics have drawn ire in particular, especially a duo at Entertainment Weekly who admitted they skipped a few episodes of the series (with its multiple timelines, that’s a recipe for disaster) before giving it an “F” grade. They were called out by the showrunner herself, and fans lamented that not only should a review like that not have counted, it actually showed up on Rotten Tomatoes twice under each co-author’s name, dragging down its score further.

How the hell are you going to write a review for an entire season of a TV show that you didn't even watch all the episodes of?
