Funniest thing is that the cold war dinosaurs were right all along. For decades they've been called anti-Russian biased hacks, or even racist (against Slavs) given some of the borderline inappropriate stuff they say about the behaviors or personalities of Russians. But they were right. Putin is mentally locked in the past, and his only interest in the present/future is based on restoring Russia's glorious empire. That's it. It's not about NATO, culture wars, Christianity, or anything else. I'm seeing some blue check losers on Twitter crying that this was a "missed opportunity" for Putin, he could have handled it better, he needed to talk about xyz. This is pure nonsense and I would hope that even those who (wrongfully) blame Ukraine for their own country being invaded would disagree with this fiction. It's Nazi propaganda from a guy who should, based on his position as a Russian leader, should recoil at this nonsense given that Nazi Germany also invaded Russia lmao.
