Watching some smackdown episodes from 2002/03. Couple things

  • Vince or HHH need to convince heyman to take over the booking again. Every thing made sense, everything was fluid, no 30 minute rambling promo, just strong wrestling. I was actually invested in the outcomes of the matches. Smackdown 6 was :whew:

  • Brock is top 10 all time

  • It's amazing how much better Stephanie is booked in this time period. It's like night and day between then and now. She's 100% more likable to me as the smackdown GM than as part of the authority.

Brehs I just watched Summerslam 93 and I can't believe Vince didn't put the strap on Lex Luger. I'm not the biggest Luger fan but he was over as hell at this time and had the look Vince salivates over.

The booking of the match just didn't make sense. Luger wins by count out and the crowd goes nuts, all the babyfaces come out and they drop balloons and confetti from the ceiling, and treat it like a championship celebration, but Howard Finkel never announces the fact that the title cant change hands on a countout. I legitimately think everyone in that arena thought he won the title. :dahell:

Luger had the unfortunate luck of having some awful booking decisions in his career. SummerSlam 93 and that time in WCW where he lost to Flair because of a cut. It made him look like a choker. If someone's as over as he was during those times, don't drag it out, just put the belt on him.

Lex's entire feud with Flair in the late 80s/early 90s made him look bad. Especially since he moved on and then had to go right back into it after Sting got hurt, so he was stuck in a holding pattern of finding ways to have him lose without really losing. It did a lot of harm to him.

Wow this entire Bryan doc :mjcry:

Wins at WM and gets married, 2 weeks later, his dad dies. 2 weeks after that, Connor dies. A couple weeks after that he has to leave to get neck surgery. All the indie guys talking about how sad they were for him while clearly thinking of the damage they did to themselves before they got to the big show. Then he comes back and on the shelf not even 3 months later.

:mjcry::mjcry::mjcry:

EDIT: Holy fukking shyt at Hayes claiming the Freebirds never wore the rebel flag (which he admits to liking because he felt he was a rebel) but actually just the rebel flag portion of the Georgia state flag...and then saying he had listened to Richard Pryor on the road so much that he didn't realizing dropping n-bombs would offend people. Double LOL at JBL mentioning Hayes has a black daughter so he's obviously not racist....only for Hayes to immediately mention she's actually the half black daughter of his ex-wife from a previous relationship and she wasn't around at all during the marriage.

Re-watched the Austin Heyman podcast. Gotdamn were the last 3 or so minutes intense when Steve flipped into Stone Cold mode

I get why he doesn't want to but damn did he give a moment of "oh shyt I wanna see this" when he started going in on fighting Brock

Just watched the new Ride Along with Roman/Ambrose and Paige/Alicia. :manny: episode (found the Paige/Alicia portions more entertaining than Roman/Ambrose to be honest). Next ones have the Usos/Team BAD on it, so that should be good (although the Bellas are on it too :beli:)
