Just watched Steamboat vs. Flair from the Chi - Town Rumble in 1989 with JR on commentary and...wow brehs :wow::whoo:

Even tho it's been a known fact that wresting is a work since the very beginning, it's something about the way it was presented back then that made it so much more authentic and believable that it still had a level of mystique about it that was easily comparable to REAL competitive sports. And I'm not even just talking about just the characters that were believable but just the whole atmosphere in general. I found it amazing that If you watch this match and look in the crowd you will see it's dominated by mostly people in their mid 20's-early 30's and way older, that says a TON about how wrestling was viewed back then.

They sold it as a legit sport and stuck with kayfabe.

Tiny complaint but since I'm gonna "Stan" for him the way I do for Sting/Taker

I feel Finn is too "aware" of the crowd when he's in demon mode. Watched his match with Joe this morning during their ring intros its nit picky but was kinda cringe worthy

If that's his sinister side it needs to be more grey gloved Undertaker/Great Muta deliberate in its movements and mannerisms regardless of whether there's an audience. I'm sure he'll work the kinks out of it but it's an observation.

I've been saying this since day one of the demon shyt. He wrestles exactly the same with or without the paint. The only thing he does is add a long entrance that wore out its welcome after the second time. He just looks like a fukking goober.

Lance Storm and Justin Credible were great scumbag heels. Heyman literally turned Aldo Montoya into a great heel. But ironically they both go to the WWE and get buried into obivlion. These guys could have had a dope ass feud with Edge and Christian. The promos alone would have been worth watching. But clearly they weren't the Impact Players we knew and loved just by looking at the corny ass tights they gave him.

Instead of making Tazz a straight up marshmallow job boy bytch. They should have had him alongside Austin as general of the Alliance if they were gonna make it work. Tazz and Austin straight bullying and punking mofos would have been classic TV even though Tazz couldn't compete anymore.

They literally blew billions with that Invasion angle but its still better than the shyt now :mjlol:

Breh, Tazz was shorter than Crash Holly. And fat. He had ZERO chance of getting out of the hardcore division. He was also on his last legs as performer and only went to WWE to get actual money while he could. He would have been in the same spot even if the Radicalz hadn't blown up his spot a month later.

Alliance angle still made ridiculous money even without the big WCW stars, so it was worth it for WWE even if the actual implementation was not that good for fans. And even then, in retrospect, it's a fascinating 6-8 months of straight up WEIRD.

Watching the Raw episode where Austin buried ECW and WCW and whipped Taz. This episode is more entertaining than any Raw i seen this year. This looked like total anarchy taking place

33 hours of TV from 1988 Stampede added to legitshook.com/collections and/or legitshook.com/stampede

Almost every TV ep from 1988. Tons of Owen, Pillman, tiny ass baby Benoit, the Bulldogs returning and starting their break up, Jason the Terrible, jacked as fukked Steve Disalvo, Ed Whalen losing his shyt and throwing fists, and a lot more. Baby Benoit seems fascinating as he's SO small even in a small territory, but seems like a far more fiery babyface than he ever showed later in his career.

Brehs I just watched Summerslam 93 and I can't believe Vince didn't put the strap on Lex Luger. I'm not the biggest Luger fan but he was over as hell at this time and had the look Vince salivates over.

The booking of the match just didn't make sense. Luger wins by count out and the crowd goes nuts, all the babyfaces come out and they drop balloons and confetti from the ceiling, and treat it like a championship celebration, but Howard Finkel never announces the fact that the title cant change hands on a countout. I legitimately think everyone in that arena thought he won the title. :dahell:

Yeah it was retarded, especially the big celebrations at the end.

But apparently the plan was always to wait until WMX to give Lex the title but the fans were already sick of that Lex Express bullshyt by the Rumble and they went with Bret instead.
