I used to hate how they booked prime Rock so weak compared to prime Austin.
Rock got booked that way because they were beating WCW at that point and really no matter how weak he looked he was always over.

He’d get his ass kicked on Monday at 10:58 then rush down at 8:01 on Thursday to attack the person who attacked him. Then he’d win in the main event in a tag match.

100%.. during lockdown my girl and I been going thru all the old ppvs with the rock in em

Shes like :what:damn why was the rock your fave if he lost to everyone.. austin, angle, little bytch ass jericho:martin:

Yeah he really only had 1 semi-lengthy title reign in the middle of 2000

Anyway:

Lita really is an OG, used to take bumps from the men like it was nothing, did a riskier more ambitious style when few if any other women in North America were doing it, and then played a huge part in getting the Rated R Superstar gimmick over as a depraved ride or die valet w/comically large implants... I hope she continues to make occasinal appearances as a sort of "cool aunt" to the current wrestlers... Maybe pair her as the cougar valet to one of the younger guys tryin to get over :patrice:

I know and I hated that. Rock was the fukking man. He should’ve been dominant in that era. He was always getting his ass whipped by bum ass HBK-less DX.

He was so over that they knew they could just use him to try and put over jabronis like “Mr. Ass” and he would still be just as over.

Him being this larger-than-life swagged out figure that used to roast everyone on the mic didn’t mesh well with him being booked like a whitemeat babyface.

I mean i’ m a huge Rock fan and almost as big a fan of proper booking.

That being said, I don’t think booking Rock to just blow through the roster solely because hes the biggest star on the planet makes sense. Thats basically what Triple H did in 02-03 and most think less of him for it.

He could of squashed Benoit, Jericho, Booker, Kurt (can’t remember who else he feuded with that year) and he would of looked great. Would he be a bigger star in 2020 for it? I don’t think so.

Instead, things were much more competitive, and I think he helped make some stars. I think everyone worked with him post-1999 was given a gift. They looked great while working with the greatest wrestler name of the 2000’s and got huge exposure.

Also, people love rooting for an underdog. Which is a big difference between Rock and your Triple H’s or Cena’s or Roman’s

Rock could lose to literally anyone and never lose his heat because he could absolutely eviscerate them on the mic at the next show and it wouldn't matter. No one remembers Rock losing to Billy Gunn, but everyone remembers him ending Billy's singles career with one promo.

Rock was never an underdog, though. Just because he'd lose more often than any other top guy didn't mean he was an underdog. It was still always a surprise when he did drop a fall to anyone, and I don't think he ever lost entirely clean as face top guy. There was always some kind of fukkery involved even if it was something as simple as a low blow or a manager tripping his foot.

2002 gotta be one of best Royal Rumbles. Very good storytelling and fukkery. Lol@Austin eliminating Christian and Chuck Palumbo then bringing them back in the ring to whip their ass some more. Only thing wrong with it was the anticlimactic finish with Hunter Hearst Federline winning after hitting Angle with that stupid facebuster he does in every match.

An underdog in the sense that the odds were always stacked against him throughout pretty much all of the year 2000.

Almost Every week seemed like he was in a handicap match

Matter of fact i believe in the no mercy game in the road to world title mode u had to fight dx in handicap matches cus they was copying the real.life storyline. I hated that shyt
