Boss Man put that work in that night.

The show is like a microcosm of Russo's run.

Terrible wrestling, no clean finishes, constant fukkery, swerves and heel turns, Austin, Vince, Rock and Foley outshining everything else.

I love the show but WWF's product after this would quickly nose dive and most of 1999 is terrible. Things only improved once Russo left and then 2000 became the undisputed GOAT year for WWF.

I dont get him leaving via being burned out
Only to have thunder and nitro
Maybe he was a plant sent to sabotage
But wcw already did that themselves by the time russo came around

Pros of Nitro/Thunder being taped together in 2001:

Forces Thunder to actually be thought out and there's continuity with angles and storylines from show to show

Cons of Nitro/Thunder being taped together in 2001:

Everything else. Anyone bigger than a cruiserweight that has to work again is completely disheveled and blown up, the talent that does work double duty are guys you don't want to see in 2 matches a night (IE not the cruiserweights but Lex/Buff/Jarrett/Nash/Rick Steiner), crowd is completely dead.

It's really amazing how TNA really was basically a direct continuation of WCW. I'm sure if WCW actually did get bought out by Fusient and kept the Turner TV contracts that the WCW roster in 2002 would have basically been the TNA roster + the remaining WCW guys who went to WWE + RVD/Corino. All the big names had their contracts run out in 2002-2003 and I wouldn't expect them to have the money to keep Hogan/Nash/Sting/Goldberg/Flair/Steiner, but they already had been working with the core TNA roster with Harris and Storm doing weekends and security work for most of 2000/2001, AJ Styles and Daniels getting shots, a number of other guys that worked weekend shows or trained at the Power Plant that never made it to Nitro/Thunder. So it makes sense to me that all the super indie guys that were hot in 2001-2002 and early ROH would have been picked up by WCW since WWE had no interest in them at the time.

You could have had a WCW roster of AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Joey Samoey, Low Ki, Spanky, Doug Williams, America's Most Wanted, Rey Mysterio, Kidman, 3 Count, Yang and Kaz, Chavo, the Naturals, Abyss, Natural Born Thrillers, Booker, Jarrett, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Prime Time, RVD, Kid Kash, Steve Corino, The Wall, Hugh Morrus, DDP, Kanyon,

WWE put up that full lucha spin off WCW tried to do in 1999. I think they had one match from it up for a while, but this is the entire event with a lot of luchadores they never used in WCW proper. And then after 8 6/8 man tags in a row, the main event is Disco Inferno vs Konnan :dwillhuh:

Every match and spot is like this the entire show :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

At one point in this match there was a 3 count and everyone completely ignored it, the fans booed, and then they did this spot and it ended with a run in from Jimmy Hart's group of rudos :russ:

Decided to give that Balor/Styles match a try, its good stuff but I'm hearing its considered a classic? Seemed like your typical RAW/SD match with time and the crowd was completely quiet outside of the entrances & Too Sweet post match
