god DAMN did they love wrist locks in wcw:russ:

bell rings, wrist lock

reversed into a wrist lock

he's going to the top turnbuckle and comes off with a big wrist lock

he's got that wrist lock locked in, and he gets the big win by submission with a wrist lock

the referee raises his hand in victory and MY GOD HE PUTS THE REFEREE IN A WRIST LOCK

The run up to WM 11 is so trash. Nothing had any build up besides HBK/Diesel and LT/Bam Bam on Raw. Even HBK/Diesel is iffy, as a lot (most?) of the promo work from Shawn was done on the weekend shows, and almost every appearance Diesel beyond a sit down interview with Vince that was more about him the person than the WM match was showing clips of him at various press things. LT vs Bam Bam had a good 70% of the build for WM and people can say what they want, but it absolutely was the main event.

Taker/Bundy? No interactions between them from the Rumble to WM. There were all of TWO promos on Raw about it, both in the last two weeks before the show. Bundy was literally brought in just to job to Taker at WM and they had one beat down in 3 months.

Razor/Jarrett? No interactions between them from the Rumble to WM. Both were on TV frequently, neither mentioned each other nor an upcoming rematch. There was ONE promo for it, from Razor, who was mad that Bob Backlund signed a contract for a title shot a week before WM, because he thought Bob would win and then Bret would beat him at WM and Razor would have no gold, so Razor interfered in the match to make sure Jeff wouldn't lose the title. This happened on the Sunday before WM.

Backlund/Bret?
Two interactions between Survivor Series and WM: Bret/Bulldog vs Owen/Backlund on the debut of the Action Zone in January, and Bret making the save for Razor in the above mentioned Backlund/Jarrett match the Sunday before WM. If anything, it seemed like they were building to an Owen/Bret rematch, which did happen, as the only match on the go home edition Raw. Piper's addition as ref was completely last second and unannounced as of the last Raw before WM. Not just Piper, but a special ref at all.

Owen/Yoko vs Smoking Gunns? No interaction, no build up. Nothing about Owen bringing in a mystery partner. It was just announced one day a few weeks before the show. This match wasn't even mentioned by Vince in the run down of the card.

Blu Brothers vs Lex/Bulldog? No interaction, no build up. It was just announced one day. Lex spent most of the 3 months before WM continuing/renewing the feud with Tatanka, which seemed to be heading for a WM blow off, but instead there was a cage match on Sunday Night Slam the week before WM. Bulldog got a match against Shawn a few weeks before WM but was otherwise doing absolutely nothing between the Rumble and WM. This match wasn't even mentioned by Vince in the run down of the card.

Instead of building for WM, the majority of WM season was spent introducing and featuring newer talent like Man Mountain Rock, Manataur, Henry Godwinn, Hakushi, and so forth. Of course, none of them even made it to WM.

So either the majority of the build for WM 11 was done on the weekend shows instead of the flagship show, or Vince literally didn't care about ANYTHING besides LT/Bam Bam and HBK/Diesel.
