I got a 3 months for 9.99 deal. I thought this would be a good time to finally watch some WCW, since I never watched it (minus some episodes and PPVs here and there). I started with the Nitro episode pre-Bash at the Beach 96. Watching Fall Brawl 96 now.

Growing up a WWE fan and looking at WCW during this period makes me see exactly why WCW was more preferred by many back then. Most of my little knowledge of WCW stems from shoot interviews and WWE produced home videos. So its cool too see what was happening alternatively to WWF.
I'm at March of 1997 for WCW. Its clear to see why WWE was getting its ass kicked during this time. Ive been enjoying the Nitros and PPVs as they are, for the most part.

I have some minor complaints with the Four Horseman (Double J :hhh:) and NWO storylines. Besides that, im curious to see how the NWO storyline will play out over the next few months, loving the Cruiserweights and the midcard scene has alot of great talent.

Been binge watching every Raw, SD, and PPV leading up to WM 17 and started at the end of 2000 with Armageddon and went from there.

The WWE were literally at their peek from Janurary to April. Austin and Rock were literally hitting their peak popularity wise and it seemed like everybody was gaining momentum in their own lanes.

World titles were getting defended damn near every fukking week. Jericho was defending the IC title every other week and Test was repping that European belt real tough.

Beniot and Eddie were about to go on their solo shyt and were having dope matches :wow:

Kurt Angle was dropping the dorky shyt bad turning into the wrestling machine.

Just so much...:wow:

When Austin shook Vince’s hand at WM 17 it really was the end of an era...:to:

Raw was so weird sometimes

When it was one hour show

The show would somtimes open with the main event match or like a world heavyweight match

Then the show would close with some awful match featuring the likes of smoking gunns

Its not hard to see why they was getting killed in ratings

Lol

Im watching Spring Stampede 1997 and have barely payed attention the last 20 minutes (checked out at PE vs JJ/McMichael) and I just happen to look up suddenly at the 1hr 9m mark lol. Didn't even know this happened on this PPV.

Don't. Just watch Bret/Owen, the ladder match, and post Bret/Yoko. Everything else on the show is all time worst status.

If they didn't have that weird 10 seconds to get back in the ring stipulation, Savage and Crush could've been fun.

Outside of the two classic matches, that Mania is more memorable for individual moments. Piper and Perfect making surprise appeances, Owen coming out after Bret wins the title,

Drunk ass no fukks given Burt Reynolds

Plus Little Richard had the GOAT Mania song performance

Nash's Diesel promo voice was so bad, but also hilarious, and it sounds just like Vince's guttural growl, so I'm now convinced it was intentional to remind Vince of himself and that's what secured the big push.

I always :what: whn someone names this as one of the best Manias. Two of the best Mania matches ever no doubt, but the rest of the card... Earthquake vs Adam Bomb, Doink & Dink vs Bam Bam & Luna, Men on a Mission vs Quebecers, Alundra vs a super-washed Leilani Kai... ::hhh:
