Watched Wrestlemania 15

Considering how hot the product was at this time this show was a bit flat,

Even Austin v Rock, which is very good, pales in comparison to Mania 17.

Taker and Bossman might be the WOAT Hell in the Cell. Actual boring chants throughout. Total clusterfukk of a match but the hanging fukkery after match is at least memorable.

I do appreciate the HHH/Chyna swerve. I remember at the time the HHH turn was a legit surprise I didn't see coming. It was well done and looking back in hindsight, it one of the most significant heel turns ever.

Also Michael Cole's bytch ass calling most of the show hurts it. There's a moment that really sums up why Cole (espcially around this time) was so bad in comparison to JR. In the Hell in the Cell match, Cole is talking about how dangerous the match is cause you could get a finger caught in the cage. A fukking finger? :gucci:If that was JR, he'd be telling the audience that lives were on the line...bodies would be broken and destroyed in the demonic hell in the cell structure. Cole's bytch ass out there talking about hurting your fingers. :francis: shyt like this was why Austin and Rock went straight to Vince and demanded JR called the main event, even though he was still obviously struggling with the bells palsy.

The show is fun enough, but most of the matches are short and honestly could've just been something you'd see on Raw.

Oh yeah and this was a highlight

Watching Supertape III. Bret vs Martel. Really highlights how awful Lord Alfred Hayes was on commentary. Never could stand him.

"Gorilla, this man Bret Hart is talented. The other wrestler in the ring, Rick 'The Model' Martel, is gifted. So you've got two great things coming together here. One is talented, one is gifted."

Okay. :dahell:

Then Gorilla randomly mentions during a rest hold that neither Bret or Martel have trouble getting dates.

Your Lordship: "I would definitely think not. Martel is really a superbly handsome fellow and I understand all the girls are actually swooning when he walks into the arena. Whereas Hart has a sort of a rugged handsomeness, you couldn't say he was truly a good looking man..."

:gucci:

Dude was really putting some thought into it. Gorilla cut him off by calling the action before Hayes could expound further on their handsomeness.

Oh wow I can hear "superbly handsome fellow" so clearly in my head

but the dope part is the ref is wearing a head mounted camera.

calling it the refer-eye

they should bring something like that back, especially for hell in a cell/cage/pods type matches

Ol' Paul E works fast. The first episode of ECW TV post-Eddie Gilbert features the debuts of Woman, Public Enemy (in ring and two promos), Ian Rotten, Jason, MATTY IN DA HOUSE, and Joey Styles. He also does a hype promo for Sabu and joined the NWA.

Writing was really on the wall the second Shane Douglas showed up and was on about 7 levels higher than anyone in the company, including and especially Eddie, who was desperately trying to be Jerry Lawler but coming off like Brian Christopher.

A week or two later he's running Sabu vs Taz(maniac) killing each other all over the arena, got a new mat and ropes, and better lighting.

Finished 1993 ECW. From August (still Eddie Gilbert) through December (Paul takes over fully in September) this is how much the company changed:

ECW Championship

Tito Santana (coming off of a 4 month Don Muraco reign)
Shane Douglas
Sabu
Terry Funk

ECW TV Championship

Terry Funk (coming off a 6 1/2 month Jimmy Snuka reign)
Sabu

ECW Tag Team Championships

The Dark Patriot (Doug Gilbert) and Eddie Gilbert (won in a tournament after Chris Candido jumped to SMW and vacated the titles)
Vacated due to Eddie leaving the company
Johnny Hotbody/Tony Stetson
Tommy Dreamer/Johnny Gunn
Tazmanaic/Kevin Sullivan

Basically half the roster was swapped out over night. It's a much better show from the second Gilbert is gone, although it's still trash. But better trash than the absolute dogshyt trash it was under Gilbert. Within a month or so Paul E. had Sabu, Taz, Dreamer, the Rottens, Pitbull 1, Woman, and PE all over the shows.

I got a 3 months for 9.99 deal. I thought this would be a good time to finally watch some WCW, since I never watched it (minus some episodes and PPVs here and there). I started with the Nitro episode pre-Bash at the Beach 96. Watching Fall Brawl 96 now.

Growing up a WWE fan and looking at WCW during this period makes me see exactly why WCW was more preferred by many back then. Most of my little knowledge of WCW stems from shoot interviews and WWE produced home videos. So its cool too see what was happening alternatively to WWF.

watching 1999 blacklash was pure piff.. the network is legit.. i know some stuff are edited but this beats piracy and stuff recorded by fans.. i mean those VHS rips are still classic but the network is something else.. its amazing..

This sounds like it needs a separate on going thread :pachaha:
