Saw this for the 1st time today. Some good lines from the GOAT Heenan, as usual, but it was funny to see Vince break character and laugh a couple times

Is there any info on why they chose dude love for austins first title feud? Was random back then and even more now watching it back.
Best available option with Kane & Taker off the table at that time

The Taker/Kane thing brought Austin down a lot, too. Since it became the continuation of their diminishing returns of fukkery with Austin as a third wheel. The feud with Foley was much better. Coincidentally, Mick also got sucked into the Kane/Taker vortex and by the time of KOTR, it seemed like he was dead in the water. HIAC bumps saved his career.

Austin is not a character built for that kind of fukkery, and the dumb shyt of getting the title off of him for a day, then the triple threat, then the special ref shyt...Austin's heat for sure cooled off a bit during all that. Not like he still wasn't mega over, but not quite as over during and right after all that nonsense.

NWA Superstars On The Superstation

The rarely talked about essentially pilot for Clash of the Champions. JCP held fan voting on WCW for a month and a half, which booked the card. I want to say it was probably legit since they were the biggest matches from feuds on TV anyway, so it makes sense if it was a real fan vote. Either way, it was a star studded special with a hot crowd and hot wrestling (and wonky finishes)

Flair vs Garvin for the NWA Championship
Tully vs Dusty for the National Championship
Russians vs LOD
Midnight Express vs RNR Express for NWA Tag Team Championships

Plenty of Southern celebs, action, and classic commercials. Whole video file is up at the link.

I just watched 1 of those Legends of Wrestling round tables and had no idea Flair had so much dislike for Hall and Nash. He said Hall's claim to fame was "being in the ring when Shawn Michaels wrestled a ladder" and Nash had 0 skill and was all looks and having "the machine behind him"
