I was watching a Saturday Night from early 1988 last night. I swear to go the squash matches were 12 minutes long. shyt was unbearable. Then Dusty comes out and calls Cornette a very feminine person if ya wheel, goes on to say that when he (Dusty) is out with they boys, they drink hootch and chase women, but Cornette...he don't wanna know what he does with the boys, but he does get stripped naked and asks his mom where is bra is.

This is followed by Larry Zybszko stalling for 7 minutes in an 8 minute squash match where a fan very, very aggressively calls Babydoll a stupid whore to her face.

Hollywood vs Wolfpac fukking sucked so hard. By the time War Games came around, the angle was already basically dead, and it was DOA to begin with since they never bothered to put Nash and Hogan against each other when it mattered.

I'm at early August nitros right now and the fans are still hot to see them go against each other. It only sucked in the sense of not having a real payoff, the basic idea of it is good, as evidenced by the fans being hot for the promos they cut on each other in summer 98, and how hot the crowds are for the wolfpac vs hollywood nitro tag main events in summer 98.

The fans cared about those sting/lex/nash vs hogan/giant/hall tag matches A LOT, regardless of whatever smark cac reason might be presented for why they "werent good work"

They didn't have the factions confront each other enough, especially Hogan and Nash, but Wargames wouldn't have been too late to do it.

It was just so drawn out. The split itself started briefly in like spring of 1997 when Nash was going on about being a newer, more aggressive breed and asserting his dominance in the NWO but then it was just kind of quietly dropped after Hogan was off TV for months and I think Nash got hurt. All that really happened was Ted DiBiase leaving the group.

But then they started it again in early 1998 and I swear it was 5 months of the same shyt every week before they officially split off, and then the same thing for the next 5 months. There really wasn't any progression or story to it. It was just well now there are two and they don't like each other so I guess Stevie Ray and Konnan can have 600 matches and maybe throw Virgil in there once in a while.

There really wasn't a reason why they were feuding with each other for so long. And then there was no pay off to a year long angle that genuinely had no progression for 6 months. Actually, If I recall there was a throw away line after the finger poke of doom that this was the plan the whole time, so they spent the last year feuding just to fukk with WCW...or something.

if you were a kid, that's not being a mark, that was just believing in wrestling which made it all the more magic back then.

Mayne I'm watching these old Raws from summer of 96
Shawn was the champ and Ahmed was the IC champ. Ahmed was all up in every segment with Shawn, having tag matches with him, giving those mushmouth Ahmed promos.
Nobody can say Vince didn't try to push Ahmed. Not the boss fault that Ahmed kept getting injured, injuring people, and being wacc on the mic

I legit thought Ahmed was next up when he beat Goldust for the IC belt at King of the Ring. He was booked really well up until Farooq debuted. shyt was never the same after that.

Smackdown in 2009 very briefly had a great combination on par with the Six. It was Punk, Jeff Hardy, Jericho, Edge, Morrison, Mysterio, & Ziggler. Every week, there was at least two matches with some combo of those seven. Kinda fell apart with Edge's injury and Jeff leaving, but between June/August of '09 they were puttin' on good matches nonstop.
