Unidentified powder creates scare at WWE HQ

STAMFORD -- Police responded to World Wrestling Entertainment's headquarters Wednesday on reports of an unknown white powder, but cleared the building of any danger.

"WWE received a suspicious package at its headquarters today and contacted local law enforcement to investigate," said Tara Carraro, a WWE spokeswoman. "All WWE personnel are safe, and business is being conducted as usual."

The building, at 1241 East Main St., houses corporate staff and sales divisions of the entertainment empire that provides live wrestling events and produces digital products, television and movies.

Since 2001, when there was an anthrax scare, police have had to respond to the possibility that dangerous substances might be sent to corporate and government officials.

Police did not immediately respond to a request for information on the incident.

Russell Neal, a singer with the '90s R&B group Hi-Five, has been charged with murder after his wife was found dead in their Houston apartment on Thursday.

Houston police tell KHOU that Neal, 39, walked into the Harris County Sheriff Department building and said that his wife was dead in their apartment and, according to news reports, that he needed a lawyer.

Police officers then reportedly forced entry into the apartment and found Neal's wife, Catherine Martinez, 24, lying dead under a blanket on the living room floor. She'd suffered multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma, according to the TV station.

Neal, whose group had a number one single in 1991 with "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)," reportedly told detectives that he and Martinez had gotten into an argument, but then refused to answer any more questions and asked for an attorney.

The couple's two young sons are staying with relatives.
