-Mic work/promos
  • 4 - good enough to get fans into it in the arena but not good enough to really draw money

-Personality/gimmicks
  • 7.5 - I expect a lot of underrating going on here...he was a great heel in the 80s, he got the nitro crowd hot as a babyface vs nWo, and he was always IMPORTANT. THAT is hard to do.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)
  • 6. He had a limited move set, but who cares if it was working...much like Sid. And one of the GOAT finishers.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)

  • 7 - I think luger, like x-pac, is the victim of a stigma associated with their name...lex luger is a big deal in wrestling history. He should've had a longer run with the four horseman, because he actually FIT in there, with the shades and ultra young polos ( :heh: ) , he looked like an arrogant ass baller, and him Tully flair and arn could've been a goat horseman stable...especially to build a sting/luger rising fuel and the eventual turn on flair...but as @Art Barr chronicled, they fukked that all up.

7 for me.
Above average, definite name in the business, and he got over as a face, especially in the WCW when he was one of the last hold outs for the WCW against the NWO. He had the crowd behind him.

didn't really care for him in WWF, nor early nwa, but later WCW run I think he made an impact

7 the lex express sucked though they made him look like an idiot having him celebrate a countout win the way they did at Summerslam 93 and then he choked at Mania WWF booked him like shyt. WCW Luger was dope yeah he phoned it in in the later years but who wasn't at WCW at that point.

A failure on all counts, only remembered at all because of the 80s fetish for bodybuilders.

And he killed Elizabeth.

No stars, and may God have mercy on his soul.

He definitely wan't a failure. He was a popular and well known guy who got over everywhere he went, was pushed as a main eventer everywhere he went, and made himself a lot of money.

Not surw how old u are, but he was billed the Total Package in thw 1980s. That was his name basically, "The Total Package Lex Luger"

Had no idea about that, turned 26 yesterday

I meant the whole fitness instructor gimmick with that Lex Flexer equipment

This one was tough. Looking at the previous wrestlers, I think he is between Sid and Tazz.

Luger is an odd mofo. Its like he has the body/looks, the name, and a solid finishing move. Everything else he just was average or sucked at. But then again thats how it was during his days. Even then he could be a creditable heel or a face. I mean I remember how jacked the crowd was for Luger beating Hogan..

A solid....

8.

Ring- 7. Minus 3 for never doing dives between the 2nd and 3rd ropes to the outside, and then looking at the crowd, and no stiff kicks.

He played his role in the ring pretty well. His clotheslines looked badass and he could sell well as a face. He had good timing. The torture rack was a wack finisher. Later on his matches got very, very simple as far as what he would physically do in them.

Mic- 5. Totally average. Could cut a good white meat (pause) babyface promo, like against the NWO. He seemed genuine with those. Otherwise very unremarkable.

Star quality- 9. He walks through an airport, and brother, people ask "if that guy some kind of athlete or movie star?". He stayed over his whole career and got huge reactions because he looked like a superhero and could carry himself like one in the ring.

-Mic work/promos: 4. He wasn't terrible, but he never seemed comfortable, used a lot of cliches and flubbed his lines.

-Personality/gimmicks: 7. I thought the original NWA "Total Package" run was very good and he stepped it up personality-wise when he turned heel to win the WCW title. After that, he wasn't ever really interesting to me again.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 5. Nothing special in the ring, although he could be carried to great matches in the late '80s/early '90s. He got lazy after that. Flair was his best match/feud. As a kid, I remember enjoying the storyline aspects of his entire 1st WCW title heel run and feuds with Windham/Simmons/Sting even if the matches weren't special. He had some great matches with Steamboat and Pillman as well in the late '80s.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores): 6... As a kid, my favorites were Sting, Luger, Hogan and Warrior. He was on their level in my eyes, but he fell off hard, IMO, once going to the WWF and never did anything of note afterwards. Can't go higher than a 6.

Lex is the most underrated wrestler of the last 40 years. He had classic matches, a great physique, and he could draw money. But people talk about him like he was a joke. In terms of in ring ability he was miles ahead of guy like Warrior, but he gets praised as a being legend. Most people only focus on his WWE run where he was horribly mismanaged. When you look at his entire body of work he's legendary status. If you were creating a DVD box set of Lex's best matches it would be better than a lot of people's.

The reason most people dislike him is because he flopped in the WWE. If his best years were in the WWE he'd be much more revered today. I'd put Luger's run from 87-89 against anybody else's in the business. Everything about it from the storytelling to Lex's great character and in ring work was masterful.

Overall a 7

-Had a good look. I remember the smug walks to the ring with a look on his face that made you want to see him get his ass whooped.....but you knew if wouldn't be easy for the face because he was built like Superman

-I didn't mind his promos. I don't remember them being great, but I don't remember them being horrible either.

-Memorable moments like beating Hogan on Nitro:wow: The Bodyslam challenge, showing up on the 1st Nitro, etc

-Good matches against Sting, Flair, Hansen, Steamboat, Pillman, Koloff, etc

-80's NWA was definitely his peak with arguably his GOAT theme(90's theme is great too)
