His wrestling style wasn't my cup of tea. I enjoy him a lot more as an authority figure. He's definitely among the best ever actors I can think of in the business. Slapstick, serious, the dude can pull off pretty much any material.

Overall I think a 7 is about right. Solidly above average but nowhere near the GOATS or almost-GOATS.

One of those guys who you could say turned chicken shyt into chicken salad. He could work, emote, act, there was no limit to his ability. If he had a main event run he'd be look at in a much higher esteem. I'm going with a high 8.

It took me growing older to really appreciate a wrestler like him. From his matches to his characters, to his promos, everything made sense if that makes sense. This man is the ultimate professional in his approach to everything and it shows with how well it turns out. Regal is what Saber Jr is desperately trying to be without having an ounce of charisma to pull it off. His run as Raw GM is what Steph and HHH were trying for and failed at. And another thing about his run as GM was that it was completely different from his run as Commissioner. As commissioner, he was more light-hearted and comical, where as GM, he was just serious and ruthless.

I'll give Regal an 8

The GOAT hair in the business. To the point as he aged he actually looked YOUNGER for awhile.

The look of pure psychosis in his eyes after winning the KOTR :wow:

The only reason why I'm not giving an 8 is because of how badly his drug problems sabotaged his career. A weird note is that there haven't been many British World Champions for a major promotion. The only one that I can think of is Magnus in TNA. :scusthov: Nigel in ROH being another one.

IMO, with 95% of the UK wrestlers who've worked the North American scene on a regular basis, they mainly seen as solid workers/mechanics who are good to get the talent over inring wise. But generally lack the charisma/talking ability to conquer stateside as a main guy and besides Regal and Nigel, there hasn't really been anyone, outside of Barrett, who has had the mic skills to even be considered to have the belt put on them in the first place.

Also the UK scene took about 15 years too recover and gain some traction again after World of Sport wrapped up in the early to mid 80's and the only wrestling people got to see on TV in the UK was the overseas based stuff WWE, WCW, ECW, NJPW and AJW thru out the 90's.

Prior to Regal, the Brits with the best North American careers is probably Billy Robinson, Chris Adams and misery bollocks DK.

British Bulldog

Yeah and No. Outside of winning the IC title at Wembley (i think we can guess why that happened) his singles career isnt really note worthy.

When I mentioned the other 3 names, I was also factoring legacy and impact on North American wrestling, tbh Bulldog's impact is minimal.

Billy Robinson helped trained Flair & Sheiky Baby
Chris Adams trained Austin & Hall
Dynamite Kid revolutionized Vanilla Midget wrestling :skip:

-Mic work/promos: 9. His time in WWF/WWE as an authority figure led to some great and entertaining promos and segments. He should still be an on air figure to this day in some type of authority role. I know he's technically the NXT GM, but he's being wasted doing that because he's not really a part of storylines or out there cutting promos.

-Personality/gimmicks: 7. The Lord Steven Regal/Blue Blood stuff in WCW was boring as hell to me. The aristocrat gimmick always is. WWF is where he finally got to shine and show more range and personality.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds): 7. A solid performer who could keep up with anyone, but I've never thought he was a great performer on his own. I think he's overrated when looking at how the IWC rates him. Good, but not great.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores): 8, and that's because I'm such a fan of his work in WWF/E. Had he never made the jump to WWF, I probably would've given him a 5. That's just how entertaining I think he's been over the last 18 years or so in WWE.

"Regals whole "shoot" gimmick is actually a work"-Raven

Regal is one of the most overrated performers of all time on the internet. He's a decent enough midcarder, who could be a decent mildly annoying midcard heel.

Ring- 7. Pretty good at stiff style matches. Not a lot of memorable or great matches, even with good opponents though.

Star Quality/Charisma- 4. The guy looked like shyt and could only get "minor annoyance" heat. He could get reactions in that gimmick though.

Mic- 5. He could do minor annoyance heel promos fairly well. Definitely no money promos, I gotta see this Regal match now, type of promos though. Ever.

Overall-5. Somehow the internet's convinced he shouldve been world champ or something, but he was a decent midcarder that was overpushed at times if anything.

Not a bad talent thiugh, if I sound negative it's a response to his overpush/overpraise. He's OK.

Strong 8:wow:

Regal introduced me to a world of British strong style. None of that atomic drop and p*ssyfooting shyt when it comes down to Regal...no no no. We getting grapples, holds, and suplexes :blessed:. Regal has this style that reminds me of a mafia dude. He's regal as hell outside of the ring (no pun), but a complete different being in the ring:dwillhuh:. Dude made Goldberg looked good for the culture and got fired for it. Bottom line, While Macho and Flair made me love the antics of wrestling, Regal made me appreciate the competitiveness and art of professional wrestling:obama:
