I said 7 to myself the minute I read the title but I'll have to up that after reading some of these replies :ehh:

-Mic work/promos - 7
No stand out promos I can recite or anything but he had a few over catchphrases in an era where that was important and he could talk. Could deliver a good promo either as a heel or face. Even his acting chops in Ready to Rumble were admirable for a first timer/wrestler.

-Personality/gimmicks - 8
The Original People's Champion. The guy was OVER. He was a real scumbag as a heel and a cool rockstar type face. The Diamond handsign is iconic. I like the period where the nWo was trying to recruit him, really put him over big if the biggest act at that time wanted him in their camp. The Stalker gimmick in WWF, while uncharacteristic, worked up until KOTR 01 where they buried the fukk outta him almost immediately after he started. Positively Paige has lead to some memorable gifs so I cannot totally hate it.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) - 8

I would be remiss if I didn't post a shyt ton of Diamond Cutter gifs to show how cool, innovative, and fun to watch that shyt was. Even all these years later, some of these are more inventive and creative than a lot of the RKO's outta nowhere Orton's hit. I mean

Wondering where or how he'd hit it in a match was like half of the allure in watching him work, but he was no slouch in ring. I appreciated his work more as I grew older than as a kid watching him. His feuds with Savage, Raven, Guerrero all produced quality matches. I love the triple threat with him, Raven, and Benoit. Gave Goldberg arguably his best match at Halloween Havoc. One of the few highlights to watch in WCW's last few years.

Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)
- 8

I don't feel right putting him over Rey Jr who I also had at 8, but 7 doesn't seem right either. Had his WWF run gone better he might be higher, but that was a real political hit job that was kindve damaging to his legacy but wasn't his fault. He was a bonafide star in an era full of them, so much so to where WCW trusted him to be in there with celebs like Karl Malone and Jay Leno against Hogan. The DDP Yoga stuff he's been responsible for after his career has ended is very admirable and he deserves props for helping Jake and Hall. I also need to give DDP Yoga a shot at some point.

DDP and Booker T were my favorite WCW dudes, and I always flip flop between which was my favorite, and it's also tough whether to give them an 8-9. Since I gave Rey Mysterio a 9 and he was my 3rd favorite WCW guy, I will roll with a 9 for DDP as well. Loved how DDP started from the ground up in WCW to get to the top. he had tons of charisma, was pretty good on the mic, had a dope theme, a great move-set and great finisher. Johnny Ace may have been the first person to do the Ace Crusher, but Orton owes his RKO to how much DDP popularized it. Was so cool how he had different variations of it, and the announcers would hype it up as it needed to be. DDP had a cool character too whether he was a slimy heel in 95/96, his every-man rising star persona in 97/98, or his cool as shyt heel character in '99 with Kanyon and Bam Bam. My favorite feuds he had were with Raven and Benoit, they put on a good amount of standout matches. Thought him and Goldberg had some really good matches, as well as a nice feud with Randy Savage. There's a reason why the fans took to DDP, he had everything you wanted to be a star, even though he was older. Sucks that didn't translate to the WWF, solely due to egos in the WWE. No reason he should not have seamlessly transitioned into being a top guy. Instead, he was embarrassed in one of the most one-sided feuds of all time with the Undertaker. There was no way DDP would come back from that beating at KOTR 2001, being pinned by Sara later on, and looking like a total joke during that cage match with Kanyon vs Kane and Undertaker. I hated seeing one of my favorite WCW guys getting treated like trash for no reason. He surely could have gone toe to toe with Austin, angle, Rock, etc, instead of eventually feuding with Christian, who had been going through a character change himself. At least he did get to drop a Diamondcutter at Wrestlemania 18 and have a good moment. Those "Positively Page" vignettes were pretty funny leading into that feud too. Cool he came up with that character, probably could have had some sustained mid-card success with it had he not gotten what was a career-ending injury in a match with Hardcore Holly :martin:. Another salute:salute:I can't knocked down his rating of a 9 just cause the WWF tried to embarrass him. He's a legend in my book even with a short major run, but overall, he was a star in WCW and should have been treated like a star in the WWF.

He was pretty equal to Rey ; in wcw Rey was a better worker but ddp was more important and more over. In WWE Rey was more over of course and more pushed, but his work faded. They're equal for very different reasons.

I'll never forget watching Nitro and seeing a random Macho Man vs. La Parka match turn into this

:banderas:

homie is a strong 8

one of the baddest chicks in the game wearing his chain :wow:
Gave the US title a HUGE bump in the WCW
was arguably the true "People's Champ" over The Rock (in those days)
Great worker/fighter for his height
If you didn't hit a diamond cutter outta nowhere on a friend

During the days of "root for the 'anti-hero'" DDP was for the most part a white meat baby face/underdog that you HAD to root for.

Solid 8.

-Mic work/promos. Pretty good on the stick back in WCW. Dont have many standout promos but he wasnt bad at all. His WWF inital debut was cool but shame that it was in the stalker angle.

-Personality/gimmicks. I will give him an 8. Loads of personalty

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) My Top 3 DDP matches is vs Sting in 1999. 3 way with Benoit and Raven (the whole feud was good) in 98 and his match with Goldberg was decent.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) 8.

He's a weird case. I gave him a 7, but I don't know how accurate it really is. He was such utter and complete dogshyt up until late 1996, then knocked it out of the fukking park for 1997 and 1998, then went back to mostly kind of shytty for 1999 on. But those two years, the highs were so high. His promos were MAD corny and rote, but almost in an endearing way. Never before has there been a dude whose promos were so hilariously and unintentionally homoerotic. Every week he was talking about banging and jacking guys and no one ever pulled him aside to :lolbron:. The I'M AN ANOMALY, I WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN shyt was awful, though, and he basically cut that same promo for 3 years straight. +7 for his usage of SCUM. His feud with Macho: Top tier, especially the first match. Match with Goldberg: Maybe a top 10 WCW match. Match with Stang on Nitro: Top Tier. Stuff with Raven/Benoit: Top tier. Diamond Cutter: Top Tier OUTTA NOWHERE. Also gave rise to the GOAT WCW angle: Positively Kanyon. His stuff prior to mid 1996 or so? Absolute dog shyt tier. Some of the worst shyt in some of the worst times in WCW.
