Airforce is a good branch to choose breh. Good luck :salute:
I want to be more behind the scenes so that the tech trade I learn can be transferable to the real world.

I just want the money and benefits then I'm Audi 5000.

I'll give them less than 10 years. I already have a fair idea of how career progression works so I know what to expect and how to finesse myself instead of going into it blindly.

They say if you want to improve your time when it comes to running to take shorter runs and concentrate on improving the time but judging by the fact your gonna train on 3 miles off gate, your time should improve for the 1.5 mile run. Especially if you don’t normally run anyways.

I say don’t train on the treadmill though. I typically open all my workouts up with at least 3 mile run outside. That treadmill is light work the more you actually train outside. In fact, your time will probably improve if you train off the treadmill and just use the treadmill either to track progress (weekly, or some other interval) or if you just can’t run outside

***Note I am a beginner training to get myself back into peak physical condition before joining the Air Force.

I need to be able to run 1.5 miles/2.4km in sub 11 minutes (*preferably sub 10 minutes) on the treadmill.

So brehs, what pointers do you suggest about this routine?
Wow, that's like an 8 minute mile for the 11:57 minimum. That's jogging territory.
Two things. Are you over-weight? You'll want to lose weight and do running.
If you aren't over weight, then it will be easier to get your cardio up.

I had to train for a 2-mile timed outdoor run. Losing weight was half the battle. When I tested, I just barely finished under the maximum time allowed.

I just came from a training command (with the coast guard) but we had to do PT as well. In HS i was playing sports so i was good, but since then ive been on strictly weights, and i would smoke blacks every now and then:skip:so my lungs were fukked. First time i ran a 13 something and the final PT test i ran right at 11 min.

The plan you had up is good. For me it was just getting back into the habit of running 2-3X a week (even though in basic training or OCS yall gon be running probably 5 days a week) and getting my lungs back.

Also losing weight if needed. After that you'll be straight. Its just like doing sports in HS. For this military shii you dont have to be Usain Bolt. Getting ready for PT and the PT you'll do once you're in feels like HS football/basketball practice.

That's why I'm starting off completely as a beginner workout wise. :francis:

I really want the job by the end of the year or early next year.:mjcry:
Also what is saying you cant talk to a recruiter now? I know they AF has long wait times, why not talk to him now even if your run isnt exactly where it needs to be.

Also look into OCS/the officer world. We need more black officers out here mane dont sell yourself short:sadcam:

What the fukk are you talking about? The test is always outside
In the UK it's on a treadmill. It's only outside for the MOD's Army and Navy in the UK. However with the Navy it could be either but for certain in the UK it's on a treadmill.

You going RAF LooL

for basic we did the 1.5 miler outside but I'm army, the RAF is just soft exercises and you use hotels but anyway

I just did 800m and 400m and 200m repeats

My best time is 8.40 but I got commando and Para mates who can do it in under 8

But yeah repeats and every week do the 1.5miles to test your progress best advice is your mind will give up long before your legs, just keep going

To be fair with you I did consider the other two arms of the MOD but I don't want my head blown off 1) for a war I didn't start 2) nor one that I remotely care about. I'm just doing it for the career perks and a way to financially get a leg up by saving from working in the RAF.

I don't get what's wrong with the RAF? Please explain as I'm not joining as a fighter pilot, gunner, soldier or some other batshyt crazy career path to fry my brain before I even leave. I'm doing it because I'm interested in IT and they offer big incentives to join so that is why the RAF appeals to me, but if you can sway me to join the Army or Navy I'm all open.

The incentive to join the RAF is the £30,000.00 (£30K) Golden Hello after completing training. Then you get London weighting which is a another few Gs on top of the £19K+ a year consistently rising depending on the rank. That's a lot of money. I would do this for a few years then ply my trade in the real world.

I thought that's a good thing

Head blown off ??? Man not everyone in the army is in the Infantry and even then they rarely in firefights

But everything I hear about the RAF is negative but that purely from a soldiers point of view.

From a career and quality of life it's actually the best option £30k golden hello where did you read that.

But just a heads up promotion is more of a doing the right things in front of the right people, as you'll find out there are alot in higher ranks are who are clueless

Oh one last thing play the game

I'm going to apply for all three anyway but the RAF (solely from what I've read on the Internet) appeals to me the most.

The £30K Golden Hello is if you have two GCSEs in Maths and English as well as a Technology or an Engineering GCSE (which I am studying for now and about to pass through an accredited online website). The incentive is on some of the RAF engineering-tech roles if you apply between now and March 2019. I'm in my 20s so I'll be physically where I need to be by this Autumn '18.

It's mainly my weight I need to get down to be able to join.

So, are you saying the RAF is the the best option if you want a transferable career outside of the MOD?

What is actually bad about the RAF though, I would of thought the Army would be the most intense and from what I've read the higher ranks speak to you like shyt which isn't done (to that degree) in the RAF?

But just a heads up promotion is more of a doing the right things in front of the right people, as you'll find out there are alot in higher ranks are who are clueless
