Trump will fire federal workers who don't return to office despite Biden's contract that locks in remote work for thousands of employees

this is a policy that will kill people, either via more sickness being spread by being in an office or people just dying commuting to and from work.

we've learned since the pandemic lockdown that traffic deaths and car accidents plummeted.

why force people onto the road when they can do their job remotely?
Ultimately it's a tactic to get as many people to quit without firing them. They want to tear it all down.
And you're right forcing hundreds of thousands of people to go back into office will be a major inconvenience for everyone. People will now have to juggle their time taking their children to daycare/school, be exposed to higher risks of accidents, be sleepier, more stressed, more sick and overall just less productive.

You and me both man. And the brain dead that don’t get the magnitude of what is about to happen even though it’s right in their face. Both siders are scum to me and I HATE the Democratic establishment with a passion.
The democrats remind me of the manager at work that constantly tells you about these new initiatives from the higher ups that nobody fukking asked for.

You're out here working and pointing out real problems with what is happening and they never show up to the office, they don't make themselves available at meetings and to the extent they do, they don't want to hear anything that isn't downplaying how bad the issues are.

They're so out of touch and in their bubble. They're too p*ssy to actually admit that we need significant change. For fukk sake Obama literally ran on change and WON. The next 4 years are going to radicalize people. This is just the start. I genuinely hope that a Trump like figure takes over the democratic party and instead of being a shythead who just wants to hurt black people, he's someone who has ideas that haven't been workshopped by a million "policy wonks" and campaign consultants. Someone who can actually talk to people like a human being and break things down in a way that even the biggest morons of this country can understand.

It's too hard to fire federal workers.
this is part of the reason Dems can't sell americans on government controlled healthcare. the perception is that government employees can't get fired, and have zero motivation/accountability

and no one really cares, because those jobs aren't currently seen as affecting anyone. but no one wants their healthcare experience turning into a trip to the DMV :dead:

Its not p*ssy. They understand the wants of the people they are just co opted by corporate capture. Their treatment of Bernie exhibits that. I’ve been following politics for a long time and have never seen a party so fully devoted to stopping one man - by polling the most popular politician in the country at that!!

Just one example- Clyburn has taken the most money from the pharmaceutical industry. Guess who resurrected Biden’s career right before the all important SC primary? Guess who is now saying Biden should pardon Trump?

These people know progressives are coming for a lot of what keeps them in power, as well as their wealth and they would rather try to eke out victories with corporate candidates than throw their support behind a truly populist candidate. They are fully aware of the devastation our current healthcare system causes. Which is why they flirt with universal healthcare when running but abandon it at some point.

That being said, the policies they do offer are obviously much better than ceding the country to Musk, Thiel and the oligarchs. The ACA is better than nothing which is what Republicans want. People don’t understand that change has to be a process. Republicans waited 50 years to overthrow RVW. If people don’t get exactly what they want in one election cycle they stay home and put us backwards. The only strategy that is viable is to change the party from within by supporting progressive candidates in every election cycle until there is enough forward momentum to start enacting some actual change. It also starts at the local level. Republicans are really good about installing people at every level of government. They never stay home either. And that’s because they understand that it’s better to have some power and work from there than zero. Now we’re about to be very fukked because so much of this country lacks the insight to understand that one party can be orders of magnitude worse than one that is also bad.

Nah. It's a lot of companies that closed/sold a lot of their office buildings or decided not to renew lease during the pandemic. It's just not feasible to bring everyone back for many companies. This won't be widespread
I think you're underestimating the RTO agenda. When you have Elon and Bezos leading the initiative, shyt is likely to change quick with the new administration. It's ironic u mention the sold the building narrative tho.. I actually benefit from that very scenario since I work in the only office in the country that's maintained the single in-office day due to space constraints. Everybody else went back to 4-day weeks at the start of the year.

na breh. this isn't some 'fight the power' fist raised in the air rebellion. It's just reality. They can want it all they want. Many businesses have saved a ton of money letting buildings go and office leases go. They've reinvested that money saved elsewhere. Amazon is in a different case because they built a big ass new HQ during the pandemic so they are beholden to some state govts to make sure their employees got their asses in the office, spending money around the area. This was a mandatory condition in exchange for the big tax breaks. so they're REALLY under the gun to get people back

You simply cannot make RTO work nationwide when there's not enough office space across the board. Even if there's enough space in the buildings a lot of these mfs don't even have enough desks to accommodate eveyrone. I know at least two Fortune 100s who won't be RTO fulltime for that very reason. And I would love to see the new administration try and force businesses to start taking on millions of dollars in cost to build new buildings or take on new office space leases just to bring their people back. :mjlol:

Even Amazon's plans hit a snag in several locations
