I’ve worked on DEI (diversity equality and inclusion) panels for work. The new affirmative action is white women, gays, and ‘others’. I’ve seen with my own 2 eyes black males complete forgotten about.

Folk who work in corporate know these 2 words: diversity and inclusion. That’s the new “affirmative action’ except it’s streamlined. They just lump all minorities in that pot.

And what I’m telling you is it doesn’t work like you think.

1) Notice he said ‘placed on leave’. So that means you’ll have to use up all your leave (paid and unpaid) while you stay a fed employee and search for another govt gig. Not ideal, but not the same as being fired, and not the same as a civilian searching for a job. Also for reference, folk had to do this when the govt shut down and afterwards they restored the leave

2) DEI programs are new. At most 3 years. So it will hurt people who were hired into the govt explicitly for this in the last 3 years. But a ton , if not most, started out elsewhere and will be able to pivot back to those position. Nggas didn’t go to school for “DEI”. Also a lot of DEI program share side gigs not someone’s day to day main job

3) Again, you don’t just quit a fed job. Most people will be shuffled around to other positions. And then after all the above have been exhausted, yes a smaller percentage will be SOL

Federal Civil Service Jobs became nationally competitive after the WFC. Used to only be the justice department, but then it became all of them.

As a result, the Black middle class of DC, MD, and VA - their kids have a much tougher time "getting on" than their parents did, when nobody* (*white) wanted to live in DC. The Fed, and most civil service, is way more diverse than the private sector - but it's because diverse people hold a lot of key positions.

I remember when you wrote this is. Wasn't aware of that trend.

Trump and company are using heavy handed tactics to push Black workers out of the Fed. workforce, and ultimately to move Black homeowners out of metro DC and DMV
