Impeachment isn't supposed to be a "political process", like a rally or a social media videos for candidates, it is a process to document, and possibly remove the Commander in Chief, for egregious misconduct. The fact that the "Average" American isn't going to be moved by this isn't anywhere near a surprise. See, most people are myopic, self interested, and due to many factors not able to comprehend, parse, and analyze extremely complex situations, like this one.
Most people have no idea how government functions, nor the people who make that possible. They just like to say things like "They are all crooked" and "I hate both sides", without realizing that day in day out, that is how the country grinds forward. So, yeah, Joe The Plumber, or Joe the Marketing consultant, or Christina the social media marketing expert isn't going to be moved by this. Why would they? It's extremely complex, internal bureaucratic machinations of government and foreign affairs.
The thing with elected officials is they serve the country, not like Joe The Plumber who only serves himself. So, they have to do, or should have to, the right thing for the country, Which doesn't mean whats the most sexy, or the most fascinating to the average person with a paycheck and a commute. Do federal prosecutors not prosecute crimes because the public won't care? The public by and large doesn't care, and thankfully that isn't the mandate. Can we imagine a world where everyone just acted on what was interesting to the average american? Athleisure fits and memes? What facial cleanse socialites are using? Who is sleeping with what NBA star? The traffic on the 5 freeway? Snapchat filters and the price of gasoline?
So, political reps are beholden both to the country, AND their constituents. So tired of hearing what the kitchen table American thinks.
