The supreme court :russell:

This whole system is a sham in the end bruhs.

IMO the biggest problem isn't the system, it's the people running it. All the checks and balances in the world won't help if the people responsible for implementing them refuse to do so.

You can have the greatest system in the world but if the people running it are corrupt/bigoted/dishonest it won't matter.

This was my thinking as well, but how exactly is that determined? Do they vote among themselves on which cases to take up or is there some other standard procedure for determining which cases they hear?

At least four of the justices have to agree to take the case. If at least that many Justices agree to take a case they'll issue an order to the lower court to send them the case records for review.

What happen to separation of the branches of government? It’s like they all have aligned to support one party. :scust:

Republicans and the federalist society started pushing that only liberals did judicial activism while putting in the most overreaching conservative activist judges they could find.

Also, and Merrick Garland is the perfect lens to look at this through, the Rethugs under McConnell have made it very clear that they would rather tank the entire government apparatus than give the Democrats a fraction of a win on any long term substantial issue.

Supreme Court is just another partisan entity like the Senate or the House, and at the moment the GOP controls it. :yeshrug:

You should just assume that pretty much any vote is going to come down to a 5-4 conservative/liberal split.
Yup. Trump probably go golfing with Kavanaugh and Gorsuch just like Cheney did with Scalia.

I will never have any faith in Republicans doing anything on moral or legal principle that goes against protecting their power.

Yes, at least 4 must agree to petition of certiorari
