After Trump is re-elected, i hope progressives accept that sweeping change is not how things are done in this country by either side. Americans are resistant to change... you have to chip away at the status quo.

Democrats are a big-tent party with a lot of different constituencies, and because of that they try to keep everybody happy and avoid doing anything might upset anyone.

Rethugs on the other hand are pretty monolithic and don't much have to care about the opinions of anyone that isn't a WASP.

If that were true, you wouldn't currently have Trump. Progressive ideals and actions aren't the problem, its the bad faith narratives about them that is the problem. The American people want something different every election cycle because its rare that the majority get what they ask for. Politicians continue to pander to and capitulate to independents and moderates as if they are not inherently members of one party or the other - the minority. Progressive ideas will ultimately win out - maybe not in this election cycle - because they appease the majority. The power has to be wrestled away from the minority for that to happen.
