Explain why you think refugees are bad, in general. That seems to be your assumption.
nikka what? i never said they were bad

that's an assumption you're projecting on me because i asked a question, im indifferent to refugees because i've never been around a refugee to form an opinion. im asking what's the point of us having this type of deal in the first place, what's the point of moving refugees from Australia to the US? What's wrong with Australia that they can't accommodate them there?

yall nikkas need to stop actin like every question is comin from some sort of negative place :aicmon: makes people not even wanna discuss shyt with you, im tryna understand what's going on

they take in more of the US's refugees
Australia does? :ehh: okay that answers some of it for me

@Call Me James this is how you answer a question  not by askin some accusatory shyt

Then ask that question. Because that is not the question you asked at first.

someone help me out here :patrice: how would taking their refugees be a good thing for us?

Here's a better option. Google that question. Pull up information that gives both positions and some history. Then give your opinions on why it is or isn't good and ask us to do the same.

Also, don't be so sensitive. If you have concerns coming from the negative position of "why is this a good thing for us" the natural assumption is that you think it's bad.

:snoop: so basically, you aint answerin shyt i asked

asking why something is good for us isn't assuming it's bad :what:

"why is eating vegetables good" is NOT saying that i think they're bad, it's a simple straightforward question about what the benefits may be, you takin the stance of a naturally argumentative person

just a nikka lookin to argue, nikkas like you are more harmful to any type of cause or movement than anything

Australian law does not allow for asylum for refugees by boat. Unlike the now repealed US wet food dry foot policy for Cubans.

As a result, they detained thousands of refugees fleeing from Iraq, Syria, Sri Lanka and a few other countries in offshore detention centers (think gitmo).

This has caused a whole host of Human Rights violations or at this point potential Human Rights violations. It's a mess, Australia isn't going to change their refugee policy because of their location and the prevalence of Human smugglers (think Mexican wolves).

Since they are one of our long term allies, we decided late last year to accept 1200 refugees from their detention center to help alleviate their ever growing Human Rights situation in their detention centers.

How is this good? One, you can argue that we are responsible for a lot of those refugees based on our campaigns in the region. So it makes sense to help resettle those affected. It's also beneficial because it's a great way to gain political favor for one of our allies. Especially considering the happenings in the southern pacific.

You scratch my back I'll scratch yours.

Does that answer your questions?
