Change is inevitable...
This is stupid. It’s an outdated business model, if you support Uber, air bnbs, or any of these gig type businesses then you can’t be in support of the post office as it is today.

The post office is not a “business”.
It’s not supposed to make money. It’s supposed to provide a service for the people.
This is like saying firefighting is an “outdated business model”

Yep people lose sight of that little point. Local, State and Federal agencies are not actually businesses. The role of governmental agencies is to provide services and to regulate. A small percentage of government entities engage in enterprise type stuff that resembles businesses, but that is usually like airport authorities and stadium type stuff, but from what I remember they were still governmental in nature as well. The post office is not a “business”.

All government agencies report on the economics of their operation. If it’s not a business then why do they post their yearly operating income every year?
The payments are ment as a subsidy for the service, not for profit. Why not just make sending and receive packages free?
You are asking me to elaborate why 2+2 = 4

To do a service for the American people.Alright. So what’s the entire point of the post office today if there are other alternatives for mail and package delivery?
I have attached the mission of the post office. Also please go and read why they were initially founded by Congress.
To do a service for the American people.
Those “for profit” delivery companies do not provide what the post office does.
The post office “loses” money because the service they offer is not balanced for profit.the post office is subsidized through your tax dollars and isn’t really “free”. Those for profit companies you are just paying up front.
I don’t see how these companies provide less of a service than the post office.
If the Dems don’t start blasting all this every where
The postal service was given a monopoly for a reason. Congress wanted all citizens to get postal services regardless of how remote those people were. It was never meant to be a business in the traditional sense.the post office is subsidized through your tax dollars and isn’t really “free”. Those for profit companies you are just paying up front.
I don’t see how these companies provide less of a service than the post office.
We would all be subject to the whims of those corporations. The USPS isn’t perfect but just turning over a critical service to privatization is not the answer.the post office is subsidized through your tax dollars and isn’t really “free”. Those for profit companies you are just paying up front.
