If you arent familiar with the area gon and sit this one our. There are many spots that are nicer than this place where that type of behavior is condoned on a regular basis. I know cause I be in them quite frequently.
Breh nobody in there dancing

When yall go to the movies and there's a rap song in the middle of the movie do yall expect people to get up and start twerking in the theater?

How about standing on the furniture...:mjlol:.

Thats the thing folks keep ignoring. Its not just that they were twerking. They were standing on the owners furniture and dancing. Where is this acceptable to stand on the owners furniture and dancing at an establishment.

I have traveled all around the world. Been to clubs, bars and restaurants all around the world and have never seen it acceptable to stand on the owners furniture and dance. Oh and contrary to the colis belief a lot of this mainstream rap is played other places such as overseas.

Hell some years ago I was in mexico at a mexican franchise restaurant and they were playing Nicki minaj anaconda blasting it loud over the speakers. Also no one jumped on the tables and chairs and started dancing.:lolbron:

Music doesn’t necessarily indicate an atmosphere. Need the right spacing, decor and setup to be considered an atmosphere to twerk/dance IMO.

I think music absolutely does indicate atmosphere, a heavy correlation!! You’re more likely to hear gospel music at church than you are at the gym. You certainly wouldn’t expect an “upscale” spot to be playing the same music the strip club does.

Why aren’t people twerking at gyms when hip hop comes on?

He came out multiple times. They didn’t respond to being talked to nicely so hit em with the haymaker. And from what I saw in the video he specifically was talking to them. He sent a message to everyone else by directly addressing them it won’t be tolerated. What’s wrong with y’all?

Most ppl in that vid seemed to be sitting properly and not causing a stir. His messaging seemed to be addressing a crowd and addressing black women as a whole on a paternalistic front. Which is awkward. Again, unruly guest isn’t something unique enough to black businesses, that he should’ve gotten on a soapbox and use profanity towards the crowd. I’m coming from the standpoint of someone who has worked at a mom and pop restaurant that flirted between night club and fine dining much like this establishment. I couldn’t imagine the owner stopping the music and addressing the whole restaurant with such profanities and without tact. Saying he “Doesn’t give AF about the money and GTFOH” towards the crowd, just seems tasteless. Profanity in general seems tasteless. I couldn’t imagine the owner of the restaurant I worked at doing this. It’d just make the vibe awkward going forward and for the rest of that night.

It’s not just lame, it’s bad business. Everything just has to be paternalistic when it comes to black ppl. Always. It’s always about paternalistic respectability politics under the guise of racial awareness and pride. And I get it. Black ppl have had to stick together and be communal, compared to other races in this nation. So messages get conveyed differently than they would at non-black spaces. But even then, he could’ve just spoken to the individual and her party and kept it moving. There are other ways to send a message without berating a crowd and using foul language.

You’re a man speaking this soft? :scust:

Nailed it.

He doesn't want people dancing yet he's serving drinks and playing club music? Dude has a whole dance floor.

He doesn't want people twerking yet has promo on his ig to Thong Song with...girls twerking.

He doesn't want people wearing "explicit" shirts yet the dj plays explicit music.

The restaurant looks no more upscale than ihop yet he has a dress code...?

I'm all confused. If he only wants auntie patrons, then his restaurant needs to have an environment that caters to aunties. Ax the bar and club music. People wouldn't twerk to Kirk Franklin.

Someone on Twitter, I think, said people wouldn't twerk at Ruth Chris so they wandered what the big deal was. Ruth Chris has a atmosphere that exudes class. The waiters are dressed nice, the floor is carpeted, the furniture is fancy, even the lightning is relaxing. They're not playing Throw That Ass In a Circle and advertising their restaurant to the Thong Song and women twerking in bikinis.

Black people really need to stop worrying about what White people think. That's all his rant was about, how "they" would perceive his business. My thing is...who really cares? They're not going to hate you any less for being less hood or "ghetto" than the next. Bigots hate us all. You don’t get a medal for being one of the "good" Blacks.

Exactly
Dude is better suited to run a takeout spot with the vibe he got now. Nothing about that place says upscale at all. If the place actually had some sophistication to it, I'd be more understanding. Its like dude is trying to serve Cheesecake Factory food from out of a Dennys, but wants the elegance of the Cheesecake Factory. shyt, there's way better looking restaurants that don't even have a dress code or be tripping off hats and shyt.

Him having a dress code for a place that looks like that, tells me all I need to know about the owner.

Dude said he didn't need their money, but kept them there anyway for that whole time when he could have just made them leave. All that going back and forth talking to them several times was doing too much. Nobody trying to run some busy upscale eatery got time to do all that.
