This iteration of true detective is only running one season for 8 episodes... so we've seen the majority of it already.

All you can do is compare it with the same sample size which is approximately one season... to me it puts GoT to shame... but i really do think that people put that show in a lower tier as opposed to breaking bad/mad men... and deservedly so.

I mean I can turn around now and start coppin pleas but theres no 5 episode run of breaking bad that stacks up against the first 5 eps of true detective... its simple as that.

I watched it last night. It was really good as well. MM and his acting The weight he lost for the role too He's gonna be the first actor to win a best actor award on both the big and little screen

The preacher gave the sign of the cross backwards , that's a devil sign he made. When Rust was saying look at these people and how dumb they are. Cut to the preacher talking about the masks we wear. The preacher did exactly what Rust was talking about he mocked his own flock by putting on a mask for them. Look up his name , it is close to a renowned cult leader from the past.

Do you think this show will venture into any flat-out supernatural stuff? It's walked the line at times. I don't think it will, but I like the undertones.

That black star on the left was the first thing I noticed. Another cool pick up, Rust is obviously an atheist, and dogs religion often. But, in both interrogation scenes they've shown where he's working a suspect, he takes on that role of being the vessel of them to confess, very much like a preacher. Both interrogations have shown Rust focusing on their need for redemption and to be forgiven. I find that interesting.

I'm glad you quoted these 2 things breh, because it ties into something I was just gonna post.

When Rust and Marty catch Reggie Ladoux he says this to Rust:

It's time isn't it....the black stars....black stars rise....I saw what happens next....I saw you in my dream....you're in Carcosa now....with me.....he (The King In Yellow) sees you....

That's what I think they'll do. They'll keep adding creepy shyt that can be interpreted either way, similar to the movie "Session 9".
