It also helps that the story is pre-planned, written by the same individual, directed by the same individual and it relatively short (8 episodes). Not fair comparing a smaller sample size to seasons worth of material, which increases the likelihood of weak episodes.
That being said, I feel the hype is deserved. The depth of the two main characters is considerably deep given only 4 hours of show. Rust is one of the most intriguing characters to come around in a long time in my opinion. Characters like that don't come around very often.
The writer of this show has no track record on TV. He's unproven. He dropped 4 hot episodes, that's it. The show deserves praise, it doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside any of those shows, let alone proclaimed as better than them. It belittles the accomplishment of actually running for multiple seasons while maintaining an expected level of quality. It's easy to maintain quality for 4 episodes. Or 8 episodes. Or hell, even 16 episodes. Let's have this discussion 3-4 years from now.
I'm not even gonna get into "BB" because I'm obviously biased, but to say these 4 episodes are better than "Rains of Castamere", let alone an entire season of "GoT", is pure unadulterated hype.
This last episode was dope, but all 3 of the shows mentioned have multiple episodes that are just as good, if not better, stretched across multiple seasons.
It's a new show, we haven't had a new show on this level in a while, so people are excited. I get that. But letting this show "cut in line" basically, after only 4 episodes, is some bullshyt.
