thing is I think true detective is much bigger than rusts character. yeah the show hinges on him as the central character, but its much more to the show than that.
many shows have an eccentric, anti-social genius 'sherlock' so to speak. but 'td' is one of a kind imo.
I feel like second season will be a disappointed just cuz its finna be VERY hard to top this one. especially will be hard to create chemistry like one between these two actors.

I couldn't disagree more. I love Luther and TD. but Elba character is not anything like Rusts outside of the fact they are both detectives. Luther doesn't take drugs. Doesn't have a mental history. Doesnt view the world nearly as bleak as rust did. With respect I just don't see any resemblance between the two.
But Luther is a terrific show. Ppl should def check it out
They're not exactly alike, but they are similar in some aspects. They're both socially inept and have ruined relationships because they're too involved with their jobs. Both characters seem to be two steps ahead of everyone. His relationship with Ripley is almost exactly like Rust's relationship with Marty. But I guess the biggest difference between the two is that Luther still believes in the concept of love as opposed to Rust.

Late as fukk on this show brehs. Wanted to start a new series and i remembered how this was getting rave reviews. Finished it all in 2 days, just waxed off the last ep after everyone left our place for new years.

Wished i watched this when it aired to post/read the reactions during the ending sequence of episode 4. Arguably one of my favourite eps of all time. Just perfectly done. The tension during this one shot scene was just
The gritt overall reminded me of prisoners which I loved. Great series.

Ive watched it several times now. Just amazing cinematography and directing. The best I've ever seen on television. It was art.

binge watched over the weekend. really good. cinematography was great. MM was great. but that's it. storyline was blah. last week before I watched it I was telling some friends about it too....how it's supposed to be breaking bad level stuff...had em like 
.....now after watching it all, it wasn't anywhere close to that. can't believe people thought MM deserved the emmy over cranston. no way in hell. really dope show, but i'm the type of guy that needs a great story to go along with great acting performances. the actors out shined the writing here. still liked it a lot though. hoping season 2 is even better.
