It would be like Marty to do some shady cop shyt. The guy is the ultimate hypocrite. The difference between Marty and Rust is, everything Rust is perceived to be he is. Rust is a straight shooter and comfortable in his own skin. Marty is full of secrets. He portrays the hardworking straight laced cop, who is a family man. Which we the audience knows to be false.

They've done a great job of showing how Marty's whole life is a lie.

Pretty much. If you can't see Martin is a guy whose so-called principles serve him alone, you haven't been paying attention. When push comes to shove, he's the guy that will croak. Rust? He's the man who has nothing to lose, and therefore has no reason to end the case without the right man in prison. I think that's what he meant when he told the two cops to start asking the right questions in the first episode. The '95 case was botched and in there lies the answer of how the mystery killer could have struck again in 2012.

as for my thoughts on the episode:

- the only one that doesn't seem to know they trying to pin something on rust is marty...it's like he oblivious to that shyt....I see people saying they think he might've set rust up, don't think that's the case....for all the shyt they hint at about him and rust having a falling out, they worked together for 7 years and he still gives rust high praise....tells me him and rust parting ways had more to do with rust being the one that stopped fukking with marty, and not the other way around...

- now that I think, and this is a wild shot in the dark, but I think the other cops think marty might be the one that did the new kill, and not rust...rust is too much of a straight shooter and they've learned that, so if he would've done it, they probably would've found out by now...but marty is the opposite on the other hand...he's secretive, tries to be conniving...that might be why they keep asking him questions about rust, instead of himself, to throw him off....

- that scene with marty's daughters fukked him up...especially figuring he just had that talk with his father in law about the world going to hell...he tried to brush that shyt off, but then he sees his daughters simulating a gangbang with their dolls, that'll fukk with you....

- also about marty, think he really doesn't consider his fukking around as a bad thing that goes against his morals...he's trying to be a 'good' man, and he just considers that his release...some men have drugs, drinking, whatever, he just got a bad ass side piece....that's why he felt some kind of way about the young tute...

- woody is doing his thing acting thing so far in this show...him and matthew are killing it...

...cant wait for next week, seems matthew got a lil too high and had on a gasmask just walking around in his underwear lol...

hes not oblivious to it.. in the first episode he asks the detectives WHY are they asking so many questions about Rust in the first place and why are they so interested in him

I doubt Martin would intentionally sink the case because he had the chance to hand it off in this episode, and chose to stick with it.

Show is great but the only downside to something like this is we won't know how great it is until the mystery wraps up. That will make or break it.

Fred.

someone mentioned it earlier.. they extended it what? 2 weeks to solve something? I think the county or that task force or whatever takes over the case and buries it and the next few episodes ( I think its 10 total episodes? and we are already coming up on episode 3) will be over the course of the 2 weeks. Itll be some political guy that did this fukked up shyt or someone with power and thats why the taskforce is interested in the case in the first place and they end up planting the charges on someone who really isnt the criminal

The pilot episode started off slow but they pulled you in after the second episode. McConaughey is trying to fukk Woody's wife yet throwing the guilt at Woody for cheating on her. His character is :demonic:

true and he did mention them trying to jam someone up about that previous case, but he's oblivious to the new case and any rust connection...that's why i think they might be going after him and not rust....or maybe he's just playing dumb to not give them anything...i cant wait to find out, damn this series has been great so far...
