I think it's obvious MM has done something terrible. I'm not sure whether they want us to think he was responsible for his daughter's death (pretty obvious he was, due to all the guilt/can't sleep/miserable person). I almost feel like it's too obvious that he's the main killer. The fact that he said "how's he still out there if we caught him in '95" tells me it's not so simple as to believe he is the killer. Maybe they are hinting that MM is the killer, but at the very least the hints are confusing, which leads me to believe it's not really him. We need to learn more about what he was doing those 4 years in deep cover.

Also, WH already pretty much vouched for him, which is good enough for me. I think WH's philandering shows that the characters in this show are not absolutely good guys. They are gray areas, but I doubt MM is the ultimate villain.

Good show, I like the MM character. The stuff where he was talking about what hubris it takes to bring a new life into this shytty world really resonated with me. Sounds like shyt I would say when I'm in the dark place.

He seems like he'll be dropping gems throughout this series though....

I don't think he killed his own daughter on purpose though.

the theory of marty setting up rust with the present day murder is interesting to me and i could see it. he has such a strange and dark past that it would be easy to pin it on him, motive being the reason they fell out and havent spoken in ten years. and now the two detectives interviewing, are really interrogating them trying to see if one of them slips up. they wanna know about the case but they ask a lot of personal questions, definitely has me extra careful listening to the dialogue.
