Ok for the sake of argument let's say they didn't have a falling out.

Rust knew police protocol. In the very first episode when they find the first murder victim they set up a parameter and track who comes and goes. Taking license plates, etc.

So Rust knew he'd be spotted at the new murder scene. He wanted to be spotted. He goes to the interview, rambling about crazy shyt, drinking nonstop, and puts the detectives at ease. They think he's a joke.

Like I said earlier in the thread, if they've been working together why would Marty tell the 2 detectives "Rust has been playing you"? Why would he tell them "nobody can change that much" when they said he was a burn out alcoholic?

Marty blew up his spot twice in the interview. What reason would he have to do that, if he's working with Rust? It doesn't make any sense.

HAS ANYONE BROUGHT UP THE FACT THAT "REGINALD LADUEX" LITERALLY TRANSLATES INTO THE "THE KING'S 2ND?"

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

wait how? what do you mean

Reginald comes from Reginaldus (rules with counsel) it's also related to Reinhold (wise ruler). Laduex = La Duex (The Two/Second) :ohhh:
Reggie Ledoux is the new Dean O'Banion in the sense that posters keep fukking his name up :russ:
:heh:

LeDoux mean "the soft" brehs

he didnt blow his spot how you trying to make it seem....i'll give you the 'he was playing you' line...although he didnt say it in a 'yall some damn fools, he was fukking yall over' kinda way, i'll give you that....

as for the 'no one can change that much', it does the opposite of blowing up his spot...it plays further into the lie of not talking to rust in 10 years...him acting surprised/shocked about the drinking when the cops saw rust drinking, would really make the cops think he hasnt seen rust in 10 years...again, the only person that has mentioned they havent talked and had a falling out is marty...so it's not like he and rust have had to put on a grand performance for the last 10 years to convince people they stopped fukking with each other...

to continue: for all we know, rust drinking in the interview might be part of the ploy, cause we saw how he acted and drugs he did while undercover when he got ginger...so drinking a lil bit aint shyt to that man...and like you said: he knows protocol, so him getting caught in photos couldve been on purpose to get brought in to see what the new cops know...him and marty couldve set this whole thing up cause maybe they are close to figuring out the leader of the cult, so they applying pressure to see what happens...cause again, they make a hell of a team....and so far, we're only seeing this from their prespectives, so they can lead us anywhere they want...

Him drinking was part of the ploy. Anything he says in there is inadmissible because he can just say "oh, I was drunk". And yeah, Rust got caught on purpose, that's what I was saying. A detective as good as Rust ain't gonna post up at a crime scene in broad day light and expect not to get seen. I think Rust is doing everything people are saying him and Marty are doing....but solo.

If they're working together there's no logical reason to say either of things he did. He flat out told them "Rust was here getting a read on you". Then, after that, he reinforced that they'd been played by putting doubt into their heads that Rust was an alcoholic. He don't need to sell that they hadn't been in touch, everyone assumes these guys ain't talked in years.

I think people are so used to random plot twists that they want one in this show. Sometimes things should be taken at face value. Two guys fake falling out just to investigate a case 10 years later is some "Dexter" shyt breh.

marty saying that could be part of the ploy too...figure, if marty and rust think cops are involved, what better way to make them nervous then say rust is on to yall?....that should get people to start sticking their heads out the shadows...

also, you're looking at it from the point of view that they stopped investigating the case at some point...what if they never stopped?...it's obvious it's a cult with the yellow king, so they couldve been trying to get to the bottom of that cult for the last 10 years....and the new murder is their chance to finally get to the bottom of it....cause again, we're getting told the story from rust and marty's perspectives, so we dont know what they've been doing for 10 years, they havent told yet...the only thing we've been told from marty is that he hasnt talked to rust....we know these cats are good at lying to get the job done....

*disclaimer - i'm not looking for a twist, dont care if there is one or not...i'm just having a discussion with you about different ideas about the show lol*

If anything it's pretty clear Rust kept going on this case because what would his purpose for living be otherwise? He'd probably off himself if this wasn't intriguing him still. It's not like he's afraid of dying.

I still say the whole point of the interview was to allow Marty to see the real notes. They gave rust a thin as fukk folder and he even said "this shyt is way to thin to be the real file on the case". The second he realizes that they aren't going to show him the real file he just gets up and leaves.

Then they ask Marty and the entire time Marty is talking to them he is acting real friendly and commenting on how "weird" rust can be. To the point they trust him enough to show him the real file. The end of the last episode shows him reading it which to me shows how they are working together. Maybe they didn't work together between 2002 - 2012 but they are working together in 2012trying to solve the case.
