All these theories. but the only theory i can see (or want to see) come true is that of marty's wife or her dad being in on all of this. it seems like it makes the most sense. especially with the reoccuring line of the detectives curse of what your looking for being right under your nose

Well, the problem with that is Marty was saying that in 2012 before the case is actually solved. So it wouldn't be in reference to a loved one/family member being in on the cult. It's probably in reference to whatever killed his marriage and/or ruined his partnership with Rust.

2012 Marty as shown to us through ep 5 might not realize the full scope of that truth.... just yet. he does have an abtuse view of the world. I have a feeling his mind will be blown in a way he would have never imagined. and his family will be involved. he thinks the problem with Rust is lack of family. what a wicked twist of irony it would be if family is what breaks Marty......
