He failed to use the emergency ramp that’s designed to stop runaway truck plus he prob didn’t do any of his pre checks or none of that shyt before his trip.. Trucking is regulated to the brim by the DOT.. They don’t play that shyt

Nobody is saying he should walk free, 110 years though lmao

This is why it's a truck shortage and nobody wants to do this shyt

Does he won the truck or is a driving the truck for a company, they pressure to get loads on time, and the fact you have to drive to earn a living would make somebody take a risk, and this is why capitalism doesn't work because it puts people in these type of positions out of desperation and things like this happen

In that truck driving thread i Told nikkaz the shyt wasn't an easy job that's why nobody is doing it, it's a lot of pressure and you risking your life at all times as well others on the road

I drive trucks and go down step grades regularly. He was fully loaded and needed to be under 35mph before the downgrade and he needed to maintain that speed in a low gear with his engine/ jake brake on. He should notice anytime he goes beyond 40mph so he can apply the brake and get it below 35mph again. If he noticed he had trouble he had time to decide what to do. It takes time to go from a slow 35mph all the way to 85mph. He also should be checking his mirrors constantly so that’s not an excuse on why he didn’t notice his brakes smoking. That’s noticeable.

He was most likely distracted and didn’t notice until it was too late. That is why he was found guilty.

The years he was is OD but that is not why I even replied.

"Investigators estimated he was going at least 85 miles an hour just before the crash".

:mjtf:
With his brakes not working and all them mountains out there, not surprising if he lost control and hit some excess velocity. Even worse with a vehicle that big making it harder to control. Hard to say he could've done things differently unless someone was in his situation. Driving those big trucks is extremely difficult. My dad used to drive a truck for a living locally and my uncle does it on longer cross country trips and I know its definitely not easy and has a lot of risks involved. That sentencing was too much in my opinion especially when it wasn't intentional. Whether driving a truck or just a regular car, every time we get on the road is taking a risk. Only thing someone can do is try their best to stay alert and avoid any accidents. Hopefully they don't make him do all 110, especially with other criminals that intended to commit, getting less.

this case happened two years ago???

I remember reading the comments from some youtube video, they were saying the guy couldn't comprehend english very well and was an untrained driver. I don't think he owned the car. and imo ( a non lawyer one) I think the company who hired him should be charged more than that

Important

He sentenced Aguilera-Mederos to the minimum in the range available to him on all counts, which must be served consecutively.

Damm, state law got the judge tied. In other states he prob could of served all the convictions concurrently instead of consecutive

Why does he need to do anytime at all if he didn't do anything criminal? Why don't we s human beings understand that fukking accidents happen sometimes. And sentencing this man won't do shyt to bring those lives back nor even prevent some shyt like this from happening again. I've seen actual drunk drivers that have killed people get less time. 110 years?? Wtf??

What we really need to be focusing on is this bullshyt of the judge saying they can't go below the minimum. How many white rapists have gotten off on probation in recent years. All those January 6 rioter literally committed treason and threaten the lives of top politicians and the sanctity of the election process and most of those people got a few years max.

naw facts though. the cac female cop who killed the breh when she forced her way into his apartment only got like 10

It’s a harsh sentence. At worst, he should be serving them concurrently, not consecutively but… Hold Your Own Nachos, Brehitos. :yeshrug:

Sentence is wild excessive.

You would think the truck would have an emergency brake though :picard:

People are looking at 85mph like that's crazy....
That's close to typical speed on the highway... And there's no way they could know his actual speed.

This is crazy smh

It seems like a harsh sentence because it wasn't intentional but going that fast in a semi truck :picard:

Still though 110 years is excessive considering you can intentionally kill someone and be out way before that
