I kinda see where he coming from it's just that he had difficulty articulating it. In the streets your more likely to hear Yo Gotti, Gucci, Migos, Durk etc. The emphasis is more the dope boy/hustler mentality as opposed the drugged out hipster vibe you get from the Zombies. Although Kendric is a little more in a different category I wouldn't call it weirdo rap, thats where he kinda fukked up.

@Rominati...is Troy Ave dope?

All i've heard was his hook on Pusha T's track ...dope song it was

He worth a shot. Kinda redudant, but the kid can actually rap. its the content that is the problem, not the skill.

Yall need to stop with this shyt. I just listened to the entire interview, he doesn't diss Kendrick or anyone else. He's just saying they're in a different, alternative lane whereas he's making street music. This nikka labeled Mos Def as "weirdo music" too, we gonna pretend like he dissed Mos?

His argument reminds me of what people used to say about De La Soul. Lots of dudes weren't fukking with De La back in the day, called them hippies n shyt. And right now there's a lot of that type of alternative hip hop. My only disagreement is that I don't think Kendrick is alternative. I doubt Troy listened to all of GKMC because that shyt is a street oriented album.

GKMC is INDEED an alternative album. It sounds and reminds me alot like a Tribe Called Quest album. Tribe wasn't a 100% left like say De La Soul or Diggable Planets though. They employed some street aesthetics, but it still had that eclectic sound. Also GKMC and Tribe lack aggression, a key element in street hardcore rap

Pretty much.

Although I must say as a hip hop fan, I'm disappointed that the only street shyt coming out of Chicago's violence soaked streets is fukking braindead drill music. It seems like the perfect environment to re-create that street shyt that's missing from the game for the most part. I'm not glorifying violence of course, just saying that some of the best hip hop was created due to 90s NY violence/mentality.

You'd think there would be some noteworthy street rappers coming up, who can rap. I love Chance The Rapper but he's not what I'm talking about. Like a Chicago version of 90s Prodigy...that's what I want

have u not heard of lep bogus boys? they are literally exactly what u talking about from the CHI
