so what does this mean?

The storm seeks out areas of lower pressure.

The lowest pressure adjacent area is right over Houston now, so that's why they're predicting the storm to take that funny angle turn and then sit right over West Houston

Back when I was a kid a similar thing happened. Flooding was so bad and everything was flood zone so we ended up being without power for a month. Hope everyone makes it out safely

Good question. Katrina displaced s lot of my LA fam to Houston and Austin for months and even permanently.

I will say this. I'm not so sure about the strength. But the city of Houston I believe is more above sea level than places like New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I think part of why the flooding was so bad there was the poor design of the city and its utilities, combined with the levee breaking.

I hope it's not as bad as that
