Can someone put this into perspective for me? Will this be worse than Katrina? Less devastating? Same? :picard:

To put these rainfall totals in perspective, in 1979 the city of Alvin had 43 inches of rain dumped on it within 24 hours. No one died. The tax days storms had areas where 10-20 inches of rain fell within 12 hours. These 20-30 inch totals are spread over several days. A lot of rain, yes, but they have whipped people into a fukking frenzy.

That's part of the problem is that we don't know. It could be worse, it could be better. Hurricanes are unpredictable.

What i do know is what its like to be stuck at home with no lights or groceries for damn near a week. That's why everybody is buying up groceries.

Yes people can get killed getting stuck in their cars under an over pass that's flooded out. Some people get small canoes and paddle up and down the streets for fun.

I take the Katy every day, it's rare for the freeway itself to flood. Certain exits and under passes will flood. This is fine. If people take the proper precautions there is nothing to worry about. This shyt has people in hysterics like there has never been a major flood event in this city before.

fukk all that, thank God we don't get hurricanes. Blizzards maybe, which can be bad but for the most part snow is gone after couple of days.
