The rain is starting back up but my street once again has drained. There must be a great draining system around here becuz my street has been flooded over the sidewalk about 3 or 4 times in the last 24 hrs but the water has subsided each time. I thanked God for that becuz last night around 12:20 AM it was flooded and we got some very hard prolonged rain I was expecting the worst. Glad that didn't happen.

So the mayor didn't encourage evacuations but the Governor said to evacuate...

First off, why wouldn't an official urge folks to evacuate?

Was the mayor concerned about the road network being overwhelmed?

Honestly don't understand why people don't leave... Regardless.

If the forecast is saying this storm is gonna be a doozy... why not leave?

I mean... you see this shyt comin... you see the news...you have the MEANS and RESOURCES and MONEY to leave... to literally drive two counties east? Why not leave regardless? :mindblown:

A lot of the folks being shown aren't elderly aren't dirt poor and aren't disabled... they appear to be able bodied homeowners.

...doesn't seem like many of the those affected were dirt poor like those in Katrina... It's a tragedy and it's horrible.

But it appears they had the means to leave. these are homeowners, not folks in subsidized housing like in Katrina.

...the language that some media outlets are using, they're trying to make this in to Katrina low key...It's not and shouldn't compare tragedies.

I mean, how does a senior citizen's home not get evacuated... just off GP? :mindblown:
Houston got too many cars. 100 people died last time compared to 5 this time and Rita wasn't half this storm is. Houston needs federal funds for the drainage like San Diego gets.

Most folks is Houston poor breh. They are paycheck to paycheck at best. Many don't have the means.
