El Idolo been wack since NXT. I'm selling my stock:hubie:

He was amazing in NXT but the problem is the main roster just shyts on talent, makes them forget their roots, literally takes training them all over again to get good again.

Some worst than others.

Tony Khan is a smart motherfukker. :ehh:

He’s intentionally leveraging his position as the cool boss/anti-Vince and pulling Vince moves by ensuring his guys always comes out in the end when dealing with other promotions.

Impact wants to put the belt on Brian Myers? Instead of Kenny (at the peak of his reign and character) dropping the title to an impact guy, he drops it to Christian Cage (a former impact guy), who will likely do the job.

New Japan wants to put the US Title on TanaGOATshi? Instead of having Mox do the job, he drops the belt to Archer, who does the job instead.

Instead of crowning El Idolo at the biggest event of the year, he big brothers AAA to get them to hold off (Not like AAA gives a shyt either way, but still).

It’s some brilliant shyt to be able to do that in plain sight, but skate on them VKM charges because he knows exactly who he’s appealing to and that as long as he’s booking the way he is, they won’t care.

(Note: this isn’t an insult/slight. Just noting that he’s doing the smart thing - not necessarily the right thing - in protecting his brand)

shyt, it might not even be the wrong thing. While their guys might not be going over, this is looking a lot like a rising tide lifting all boats, at least at this point.

And you can’t have your top star drop 2 belts back to back nights. Andrade will get his reign, but it’s Omega’s moment right now. Gotta keep the momentum steady.

If Meltzer is to be believed, it was AAA's call to have Omega retain

This past Saturday night saw Kenny Omega successfully defend his AAA Mega Championship against Andrade El Idolo at TripleMania XXIX, a matchup that saw the Cleaner accompanied by Konnan and El Idolo accompanied by the legendary Ric Flair. News had surfaced days later that the original plan had El Idolo winning the title, but AEW, who has complete control of Omega’s outside bookings, asked them to delay.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Omega actually offered to drop the title on the day-of TripleMania XXIX after finding out that Flair would be accompanying El Idolo, and even convinced AEW President Tony Khan that it would make sense story-wise to lose the championship. However, it was AAA who decided to stick with Omega as champion, with the report indicating that plans had already been made for Omega’s next title defense.
