Plenty of ppl went back to mid card after world title feuds. Looks at your boy Orton. Look at Bret who was champ most of 94 and then feuding with Jerry Lawler and Haykashai in 95. Look at Miz. And RVD was jobbing because he had heat with guys like Angle, Austin, Jericho, etc for his reckless style. Can't blame it all on HHH

I preface this by saying it was dirtsheets, but Kane in 2002 was schedule to win the world title off of Hunter so he can hold the world title, the IC title and the tag team titles at the same time. That was the plan and mysteriously it was changed to Hunter not only keeping the title but also winning the ic belt off of Kane as well.

Not it could have nothing to do with Hunter's politicking, but Kane was white hot during this time frame and then he got fed to Hunter and lost a lot of momentum because of it.
