I doubt wrestling will ever again reach the pop culture status that it had in the 90s when I started watching during the Monday Night Wars era.Whenever people talk about wrestling being bigger than it's ever been, I just know that they were born in the 2000s. In the 80s/90s wrestlers were literally everywhere.
It may be more profitable than it’s ever been, but it’s nowhere remotely close to as popular as it was back then.
Even during the territory days it was hugely popular and filling up stadiums despite the lies that WWE’s revisionist history wants you to believe, but nWo helped catapult wrestling into the stratosphere and guys like the Rock and Stone Cold ran with it in the WWF.
