I was born in the 70s and IMO at one point for a few years he was nice. The cracks started to show around "C3", which people jocked the hell out of....I was like . It's like his promo team brainwashed everyone. That's around the time the GOAT talk started, ironically after he fell off. He's the first rapper in history to get a GOAT nod after he fell off.

Then "C4" dropped and it was terrible. And he's been terrible ever since.

It amazes me how some ppl still think Wayne still has it but the sec an artist like Nas, Jay, or Jeezy drop one subpar release or cant get a hit, theyre quick to get the washed label.

This has probably been said ad nauseum in here but Wayne still showed a little bit of creativity, depth, and diversity to his bars on C3. By C4 era every track was one long punchline verse and it was effectively what people could point to to say "he fell off".

Wayne is one of the rare guys that's changed his style a good 2 or 3 times, and C3 was the culmination of his commercial success but also the end of his major comeup.

What probably happened is he felt like his commercial success came because he started being out there and imaginative, rode with that but now the wheels fell off that wagon and he's too big to care.

Once an imaginative/witty rapper falls out of that "zone" (ala Cam/50) they risk becoming boring caricatures. I can't think of a mixtapes worth of Wayne material since 2009 that could compare to the Dedication 2 or even the Drought 3 which is kind of overrated because of it's highlights

thats 5 years, and after Recovery and a decent collab with Royce he is now back in good graces.

Weezyana just needs one Classic to be in the pantheon of GOATS and take his top spot back

Nobody is saying that. Wayne is far from garbage. However, when he got lazy 4 years ago nikkas were worshipping his shyt. Now 4 years later they hate him for the same shyt they loved.


Where was his respect when he was really on fire. That nikka was on fire from 2004-2007. His work ethic, lyrics, albums & mixtapes. When you compare C3 to his work during that run it doesn't hold up.

C3 had its moments, Wayne didnt have one good BAR on C4

Wayne's body of work since No Ceilings is just as big, if not larger than Em had between 03 and Relapse. The man has tons of throwaway songs and features where he just mailed it in. Which is why I dont understand what some of you are seeing or not hearing.
