I think the US will eventually go the route the UK did 14 years ago and create a separate category for mixed raced people. Black people in the UK was against mixed people identifying as their own group back then too.

Having lighter skin means does make a difference. The fairer you are the closer to beautiful/safe you are, too a lot of people from all different races. Can't deny that. Maybe it is because Im from the south. I have seen it all my life and people are so color struck. Especially black people down here. Like you said its not just here it is all over the world.
That being said, you can't say someone is not down or say they are not black because they are mixed. There are black people from black parents who haven't had the whole "black experience". While it maybe true they get better treatment, they didn't choose to be that color, if they aren't reveling if the fact they have white parents or they are lighter then what is the problem?

A mixed race black boy gets profiled just the same as a black who is pure black. He gets denied jobs because he's black. He sees white women cross the street on him because he's black. He's followed in stores because he's black. He experiences difficulty securing home loans because he's black. Cacs don't give a fukk if he has a white parent. In fact, oftentimes, they hate him more.
