Travis Scott is the only rapper that I feel is genuinely overrated,

I’m a Travis fan but everything Travis does is juiced with well thought out marketing and PR. Nothing he does feels like it’s actually being carried and consumed by the culture. Utopia felt like a dud without the Carti feature, Astroworld was carried by Sicko Mode.

He takes songs from other artist, he’s carried by features, He’s a bundle merchant. Kardashians, Nike, McDonald’s, WWE, everything he does is propped up by marketing and PR

He’s the first artist that I’ve seen bundle his way to a #1 song that fell completely off the charts the next week

Travis is a superstar but it doesn’t feel like he’s a superstar because of his music performance

He was bad at Coachella, he basically has the white boy ragers on lock so his concerts are going to look crazy

I don’t think he can drop and an album that can flop because it’s going to have so many gimmicks and stolen songs that it’s always going to have something that breaks through

I mean, he'll do less first week of course cause 5-600k with pure streaming is kinda hard, it's like a billion streams in a week.

But his sold out tours, youtube views and whatnot are still real.

Everything is meticulously thought out, planned, produced, executed etc except for his performances. Not just live...his album performances/vocals aren't good either. He's like a (semi) sentient 300 million dollar summer blockbuster that is ass.

He's also running a sweat shop over there, stealing songs and beats from an army of writers/producers which means he'll have hot shyt to jump on for years.
