The Canadian co-production will now air exclusively on the streamer in all markets.

Eric McCormack will continue to play double duty for the time being.

The Will & Grace star's science fiction drama Traveler has just been renewed for a third season by Netflix. And, unlike the first two seasons of the Canadian production, this new run will air exclusively on the streamer — cutting original Canadian vehicle Showcase out of the series' distribution plan.

McCormack announced the news on Thursday, noting that he is also set to direct the opening episode of the third season.

“Before I was Will Truman again, I was a Traveler. And I am so excited to be able to tell our fans, worldwide, that Brad Wright’s subtle and stunning sci-fi drama is back for a third season," he wrote on Twitter. "I am so proud of this show, particularly that it’s all-Canadian. From our devoted Vancouver crew, to an uber-talented young cast who hail from Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Ontario, to my producing partners and our Toronto roots, Travelers is a series as Canadian in its creation, as it is global in scope. I am counting the days ‘til I return, not just as Special Agent Grant MacLaren, and as a producer, but as the director of the 3rd season premiere. Travelers will continue to be unwavering in its dedication to Canadian talent, and in its drive to be one of the strongest, most binged shows on Netflix.”

Executive producers Brad Wright and Carrie Mudd, both of Peacock Alley Entertainment, addressed the exit from Showcase in their own comments: “Our partner Eric said it best. We'd like to add our gratitude to our viewers in Canada on Showcase - as well as the Corus and Sky Vision teams - for two extraordinary seasons. We are excited to start shooting Season 3 this March in Vancouver, and to continue the Travelers story for fans in Canada and around the world, only on Netflix.”

This season better than the last one. I can't even get mad at Traveler 001 even though he doing some flawed shyt. Director should have just let dude KIM and avoid all that fukkery.

I may have missed it: was the director actually ever really after him before he started doing all that fukk shyt?

The rule up until that time was that they could only travel back as far as the last traveler arrival. They even showed McLaren saying so from an old episode before it started. So travelers repeating missions was revealed on this episode with no explanation. Also, the attempts were counting upwards, not down. No telling how many they had to use.

As far as the timeline, there are different futures but I don't think they're different pasts/presents. Show is already complicated enough

Possibly. Still doesn’t explain how they kept sending the same person over and over and overwriting that girl(or themselves ). Can’t be nitpicky about time travel though

They weren't sending the same person, they were sending a new person each time to overwrite the previous person (cuz they knew the previous failed) in the same host body. If they showed the final one from the moment they jumped out the plane, you would see that chick have the conniption seven straight times (or whatever) in the air as each of the failed travelers are overwritten.


Agreed on the black characters. Grant's FBI partner was dope, they should've given him a bigger role.

That sounds right(ish), it just seemed like the same girl every time. She even said something like “I’m just not fast enough” on her next to last try.

FBI dude was cool but they kept making him look suspicious until they finally ended up overriding him I really wish the plot wasn’t so cotdamn intriguing so i could bush this ass show but I know I’ll be there ready for the fukkery the day it drops

Only fukked up thing I guess he was doing after that was giving his partner predictions for money while protecting himself, his business partner wanted to go public with the "system" he thought 001 created and made a deal, so the director came out and overwrote him told 001

001 went underground after that and the director couldn't find him until his wife took a picture of him while he was unaware and then the director bodied her too, an innocent and then put a kill order on him and his seed So 001 was like "What part of the game is that?" And started scheming against the Director.

I know it was "on sight" status for the Director: he is gonna kill 001 if he ever popped up, but it didn't seem like the Director was actively searching for him. Unless I missed something

Ohh ok but the Director's "on sight" status is an active search on it's part. 001's motivation was because of what I put in bold. 001 wanted the Director to forget about him so he and his fam can live normally. It's like witness protection just cause the crime organization you snitched on can't get at you or aren't looking for doesn't mean they won't give you that work if they catch you slipping.

In the beginning of the finale episode when 001 proposed a truce to Agent McClaren he said he confirmed that the Director was still after him. I take it as he may not have been prime target but Director always had his ass in mind. And with the way the Director tries to cover many ops and Protocol 6 (don't interact with other cells) I bet some of the teams that Ingram got to probably had secondary orders to take him out if they caught him before the Director did.
