Low budget flicks had to rely on the story to carry shyt. Studios are relying too much on CGI and action to carry movies now (with the obligatory love story and comedic relief crammed in between). It's all about entertainment at the end of the day but is a dope script too much to ask for?
I use to enjoy non-sense movies that didnt have plots and were all action. Which what the Expendables were trying to display.

Dark of the moon, stupid ass title, was def too long. Reminded me of the lord of the rings where u just want the fukkin movie to end. I don't mind long movies but it doesn't work for all franchises.

Complaining about the length of a Michael bay movie is like complaining about the sunrise. It is what it is. Dude has a style that works for him and he gives his audience exactly what they want. He's not a trash filmmaker by any means and by that I mean he's not Uwe Boll or the dude who made birddemic or sharknado. He tried to make his "prestige" flick with Pearl Harbor but it's a terrible movie. From reel one it's terrible. But the transformers flicks are for the young and the young at heart. It's made for one reason and that same reason is why the cartoon existed: to make loads of money. The cartoon and the movie function as fancy toy commercials. That's it. If anyone hasn't accepted that fact by now
