Some of the imagery near the end was :wtf: :merchant:

Wish I would have waited to see this though... made the mistake of going to the theater on campus (only place showing it) Audience was expecting a mainstream horror movie. Girl in front of me was on her phone for at least 20 mins.. :childplease:, then when the movie was over she started complaining that it was confusing :why:

Between the language and the slow burn casual moviegoers are gonna fukking hate this :pachaha:

Also like crimson peak the marketing will make people think its more of a horror flick than it actually is

At one point when Thomasin was like "do you understand my english tongue?" Some girl yelled out "i dont understand your english tongue!" :mjlol:

Thought this was pretty great, especially for a first time director. So much atmosphere. Definitely not a mainstream flick at all though.

My only criticism is the very last scene. I almost wish the movie would have ended with her walking into the forest and the sounds of the chanting. After showing so much restraint throughout the film, that last shot was pretty unnecessary.

User score on RT is 58% compared to 88% from critics. I expect the user score to slide even more

Doesn't surprise me. The theatre we went to had maybe 25-35 people in it, max. My girl hated it, and I heard a few others in the theatre grumbling about it too.

I love horror movies and grade them on the lightest of standards but I didn't enjoy this one bit . I was just no I do not care for this at the end lol and at my theatre the studio was doing a survey . Gave it bad scores . It seemed both long and short to me and it felt kind of meandering . I think showing the witch in the beginning kind of hurts because it showed something weird was going on and wasn't just in their heads.

Im actually baffled (having not seen it yet) because this film has been touted since day 1 as a slow burn, disturbing horror movie. Does it really veer off like that into a completely different genre?!?

Not really but there is way less of the witch than i think most people will be happy with.
And the middle becomes more about the family and all their issues.
