From watching the games.. It feels like the corners are playing so soft a pass rush doesn't matter... the QB can get the ball out within 2 seconds and these short passes go for 8,9, 10 yards..easy. not sure what the reality is..but that's what it seems like. There was a game earlier in the year when it started out that way and in the second half, the dbs played tighter and they actually got some 3rd down stops. I don't know why they play so soft. I don't think they are giving the pass rush am opportunity.

I kinda agree. Minny and Burrow diced this D up with fast passes that pass rush cannot ever get to physically speaking. Cousins in general would just identify one on ones and just loft it to Addison

I really think a big reason is that Dre Greenlaw is playing hurt and it shows because hes the guy who cleans things up in short gains.

The other reason is that Oliver is food on any coverage concept that involves speed and they really only have two corners who they trust - Lenoir and Ward. And neither is particularly great anyway. When teams get them in dime package this means Warner, Oliver and Greenlaw all covering or a Safety has to take a receiver.

With all that said, the Dline did fail to get pressure on multiple occasions where the other team needed time

Chase gotta do something. He was already on a loaded D-Line talent wise. Those guys underperformed.

I'm not mad at it though. We gave up a compensatory pick for him and if he leaves in free agency we get it right back. Literally got the guy for nothing. I wouldn't have risked a 2nd for Sweat, the dropoff between him and Young wasn't all that big despite what the numbers showed. Young played one less game but his pressures are right there with Bosa. Hopefully that means one will have an effect on the other and it turns into sacks now.
