I doubt a journalist would risk slandering someone when they could easily be proven wrong if Puff pursued legal action. I believe him.

Can only speak for myself, but the green light is on now for people to air grievances with Puff. Hearsay allegations about unrecorded conversations can't be proven wrong or right.
But in the past, repercussions or lawsuits made people hold their tongues. With the pr and possible legal problems he has now, Puff can't put out all these fires. So it's a green light for people to say things now. Whether they are true or not.
