Touch screens in cars was a bad idea. They’ve gone TOO far

Mazda been doing it right for years ever since they updated their models :wow: Best car for the price hands down ( in terms of cost, luxury amenities, performance, reliability, and quality of build)

I read somewhere manufacturers were reverting back to buttons because everyone complained about not being able to feel their way while driving. Poeple complained touch screens were a distraction

not fast enough.

They adopted it because its cheaper for cars to not have complicated relays but the interaction with the vehicle is infinitely less user friendly

I can get every function in my truck with my voice so I'm good. I can literally say "turn on driver seat warmer" *pause* and it will turn on.

I don't touch my screen or phone unless I'm at a light. I don't play about that shyt. If I'm the passenger and driving with somebody who's all in their phone, I'm smacking that bytch out their hand.

I do not play that reckless shyt.
when im in the slab... im a certifed knee driver...lol

Do you drive vehicles?

With buttons, you dont have to look.

With capacitive buttons, theres no indentation or throw so you can’t tell which button is being pressed or activated without actually looking at it and aiming your finger there

Then they do this in high end expensive luxury vehicles that older people are the market for…so how are older people supposed to use these vehicles with these complicated interfaces?

Imagine driving in gloves or something on top of THAT!

its poor design.

DO YOU DRIVE CARS. GLOVES DON'T INTERFERE WITH CAPACITIVE BUTTONS IN NEW CARS. THERE IS A SPECIFIC TEST WE DO FOR THAT.

MOST UI'S ARE NOT OVERLY COMPLICATED. PEOPLE JUST GET OVERWHELMED WITH ALL THE AVAILABLE OPTIONS.

AUTO COMPANIES ARE COMBATING THIS WITH INTERACTIVE TOURS OF THE VEHICLES BY CUSTOMER SERVICE STAFF. CLUSTER/INFOTAINMENT SCREENS ARE BECOMING MORE CUSTOMIZABLE SO THE JUST NEED TO BE SET UP PROPERLY FOR DAILY USE.

THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS I DO FOR A LIVING. I'M VERY FAMILIAR WITH INFOTAINMENT UI DESIGN AND TESTING / FEATURE MANAGEMENT.

The people who buy 7 series and S classes can’t operate half the features in the vehicles.

I realized this when my mom who was at the time mid 60s got a new Benz and didn’t know how to do ANYTHING in it. And this was like 4 years ago.
