Joe Dumars put together a team that won a championship and was, at the very least, in the ECF every year for like six or seven years, so clearly he has talent in player management.

And Doc had the same problem ANY coach would have - if you don't have good players, you're not going to win a lot of games. It's a PLAYER'S league, not a coach's league. Hell, Larry Brown is considered by some to be the GOAT, but look at his stint in NYC.

Hell, Mike 'Antoni was called a "genius" by those same people who were calling for Doc's job, and look at him now.

Agreed with everything you've said. Not to be captain hindsight, but I have no respect for the man that made the Darko call in the ridic 03 draft.

I guess at the end of the day, it's gotta be a "right place at the right time" situation for mutual success
